Director of Community Development
HavenHouse St. Louis, located in west St. Louis County, provides the comfort of home and community of support to patients and their families traveling to St. Louis for medical care. People from all 50 states and 58 countries count on HavenHouse for affordable lodging, home-cooked meals, transportation to all area hospitals, and 24/7 support services.
HavenHouse is seeking a Director of Community Development who reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Program Director to achieve the strategic goals of the development plan, including securing $500,000 annually. This position is essentially a one-person shop which necessitates being a self-starter with strong organizational skills. This position is fast-paced and requires an ability to multi-task, covering marketing, communications and public relations; overseeing grant writing; planning and carrying out special events, including third party events; supporting our Young Professionals Board; meeting and developing donors and coordinating the annual fund drive; and working effectively with a Board of Directors as well as key staff.
The ideal candidate will bring the expertise, experience and character needed to carry out the above and shall also be a good fit with the organizational culture. This candidate should have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills and be able to represent HavenHouse in the community in a professional manner. In addition, she/he must be able to meet evening and weekend requirements for events and meetings as needed, have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and experience in non-profit fundraising or for-profit business equivalency and have proficiency in Microsoft Office and an email service provider such as MarketVolt. HavenHouse utilizes the donor database management system, etapestry. HavenHouse has an active presence on social media, a responsibility to maintain shared with other departments.
