Tree of Lights and Special Events Director
The Salvation Army Midland Division Headquarters is looking for an organized, outgoing candidate to join our team as the new Tree of Lights and Special Events Director. This is a salaried position that comes with a great benefits package. Starting pay will be between $49,000 and $53,000 a year depending on education and experience.
The Tree of Lights and Special Events Director is responsible for leading efforts in developing and implementing events throughout the St. Louis metropolitan region. The Salvation Army’s most visible activity is the annual Tree of Lights Campaign. This position is responsible for creating a series of events throughout the 3 month Tree of Lights campaign that provides increased visibility, community positioning and provide revenue streams to assist in meeting the financial goal. As a member of the development department team, the director leads efforts throughout the year in organizing other annual and new events that provide insight into The Salvation Army mission and programs while also supporting fund-raising efforts. The Tree of Lights and Special Events Director represents The Salvation Army on community committees, assist with efforts in activities sponsored by the Echelon Young Professionals group, provides leadership to volunteer teams and works with other development staff in forming corporate and media partnerships. The position is responsible for creating the department expense and income budgets, provide analytical reports for events, programs and other special reports as needed.

Bachelor Degree in management, business, public relations or related area and five (5) years related work experience. Will consider combination of education and experience. Volunteer / supervisory experience needed. Working knowledge and skill in computer software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel and email. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Show demonstrated evidence of being able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, perform with minimum supervision, work well under pressure and deadlines, ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment and be a team player. Able to work additional hours as needed weekdays and weekends.
Preferred qualifications: Experience with donor database software desired. Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
