Boys Hope Girls Hope International
Boys Hope Girls Hope International seeks an experienced professional to support its advancement efforts as the full-time Grants & Stewardship Manager. Responsibilities will include supporting the organization’s fund development outcomes through grant and proposal writing, donor and volunteer stewardship, and reporting. The Development Manager reports directly to the organization’s Vice President of Development and will work at the International headquarters based in St. Louis. The primary responsibility of this role is fund development for BHGH International’s efforts to provide central leadership for the entire network in youth development programming, college preparation and support, administrative operations, marketing, technology, communications and performance management. The Grants & Stewardship Manager also will support BHGH International’s collaborative funding initiatives and advancement training support for professionals across the network of 16 affiliates, including searching for funding opportunities that could benefit multiple affiliates. (Affiliates are responsible for their own local budgets).
Conduct grant-writing and proposal development:
- Research grant prospects and write proposals.
- Report on funded grants to support the organization and its initiatives.
- Execute all grant programs, projects, and related assessments/reports in coordination with Program staff to ensure that BHGH excels in its fulfillment of all grant agreements and acquires subsequent awards.
- Manage calendar of grant prospects to ensure timeliness of submissions and reports to published deadlines.
Increase donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, engagement, and retention:
- Implement donor engagement strategies to increase retention, awareness and funding from individuals, corporations and foundations.
- Move all new donors through a strategically crafted Welcome Series—communications such as emails, calls, invitations, and in-person visits designed to further engage new constituents of the organization.
- Research and report on giving prospects, including background, capacity, and wealth screening, preparing reports using Sales Force, the organization’s Constituent Relationship Management system, on a timely basis for use by the Vice President of Development and CEO in solicitations.
- Write articles and updates with a focus on apprising the donor community of Boys Hope Girls Hope Initiatives.
- Provide accurate information to the Director of Marketing and VP of Development to ensure funders are appropriately recognized via the organization’s website, annual report, e-newsletter and social media.
Support the overall goals of the Boys Hope Girls Hope Development Program:
- Research collaborative funding opportunities and initiate related projects to benefit the network.
- Execute all appeals—email, direct mail, and targeted campaigns—according to annual Development Plan.
- Ensure that solicitations and “thank you” letters are written, scheduled, transmitted and tracked according to a strategic timetable.
- Research and leverage current trends on donor relations and fund development to maximize the effectiveness of BHGH’s initiatives.
- Provide development training to affiliates on a variety of topics, including donor research, grant-writing, prospecting, data management, etc.
- Provide support in efforts to procure in kind donations, to procure speakers/presenters, and execute events/registration for the annual Collegiate Prep and Leadership Conference.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong writing, organizational and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in successfully writing and procuring grants.
- At least 3 years of relevant development experience within a highly performance-driven organization.
- Possess ability to set, manage, and meet personal and organizational timelines and deadlines.
- Possess computer literacy with knowledge of donor database systems a plus.
- Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities, remain self-motivated, and utilize good problem solving skills.
- Ability to work within a faith-inspired, values-based environment.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree. A graduate degree is a plus.
