Access Academies

Summary

Access Academies is a St. Louis area not-for-profit with a mission to propel at-risk middle school students through high school and on to college and career success with enrichment, counseling, and scholarships.  Access is seeking a part-time Marketing Communications Contractor to support our mission.

The Marketing Communications Contractor is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and executing Access’s communications strategies and public information activities, including fostering relationships with news media.  This position requires a broad range of duties ranging from high-level strategizing to ‘hands on’ writing of newsletters and social media posts.  The time commitment is 15-20 hours per week on average.

Key Duties

  • Develop internal and external communication strategies and yearly marketing communications plan
    Align all communication to vision, values, behaviors, culture and branding standards of Access;
  • Manage and direct external vendor in the design of recurring major publications:  Annual Report, Year-end Appeal, Fundraiser Invitations/Programs/Correspondence, and assist with printing vendors;
  • Lead and execute the planning, writing, editing, coordinating, and publishing of all other communication elements such as newsletters, eblasts, website, media advisories, press releases, and social platforms:
  • Serve as primary media contact, proactively seeding stories and responding to media inquiries;
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of overall marketing communications plan;
  • Support fundraising events and activities through marketing and communications related duties

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of communications experience in one or more of the following disciplines: corporate communications, public relations, or media relations;
  • A BS/BA degree or higher;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively and build partnerships with all levels of team members;
  • Experience with content marketing strategy and writing content for digital and print media;
  • Social media fluency;
  • Experience working with internal and external vendor technology resources;
  • An inclusive and collaborative approach to problem solving;
  • Detailed and task-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy;
