Position summary
The Director of Development is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day management of the development department. With support from the Chief Development Officer and the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Development holds the responsibility of ensuring that a culture of philanthropy is built in the agency and that fundraising goals are met.
Core functions
- Implement the annual fund plan, manage the budget, calendar and fundraising projections.
- Oversee the administration of the fund development database.
- Oversee the giving club.
- Manage direct mail program.
- Implement intensive stewardship program.
- Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors.
- Oversee planning and implementation of special events.
- Prepare annual fund reports to leadership.
- Write/update acknowledgment and thank you letters, pledge reminder copy, other development communications.
- Manage content of website and e-mail database.
- Support and direct the Board of Directors with regard to fund development activities.
- Other responsibilities or duties as determined by the organization’s leadership team.

- Intermediate level of proficiency in publication design.

Annual Budgetary responsibilities: Meet mutually agreed upon annual fund goals.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or comparable degree.
Experience:
- Minimum three-five years’ experience in fund development with a background in journalism, sales, communications, or marketing.
- Supervisory experience.
Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000
