St. Louis Aquarium Foundation

Organization Background:

The St. Louis Aquarium Foundation is the nonprofit partner to the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station with a mission to engage the community through providing access and education programs and serving as the region’s recognized voice for water stewardship. The education, volunteer, conservation and fundraising programs are managed through the Aquarium Foundation.

Position Summary:

The Development & Marketing Coordinator (DMC) reports to the Executive Director of the St. Louis Aquarium Foundation and will be responsible for supporting the fundraising, special events, and administration of the Foundation. Working closely with the Executive Director (and other staff), the DMC will coordinate and assist with fundraising programs/activities/special events, donor communication, the fundraising database, donor relations, social media and website content, basic graphic design projects, and administrative functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Maintain the fundraising database (Donor Perfect – training provided), data entry, gift processing, reports, online forms, data entry procedures manual

·        Prepare and send acknowledgment letters as donations are received

·        Prepare solicitation letters/packets for one-on-one and mass solicitations

·        Oversee and prepare content for the Foundation’s quarterly e-newsletter (and other communications) and compile/send content using Constant Contact and/or other mass communication systems

·        Working with vendors, implement and maintain the donor recognition plaques/monuments and the digital recognition board

·        Assist Executive Director with the Donor Society (Global Waters Circle) solicitation and stewardship process.

·        Assist in the coordination of a marketing strategy for the Aquarium Foundation and maintain the organization’s marketing calendar

·        Coordinate the Adopt-an-Animal fundraising program

·        Help coordinate the marketing and administration for special events and projects such as World Ocean Day, Give STL Day, Donor events, etc.

·        Create, write, and share relevant content on social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)

·        Create and monitor Google Ad campaigns to maximize effectiveness and ensure requirements are met

·        Monitor Aquarium Foundation website content and work with website designer to keep updated

·        Cover shifts periodically in the Conservation & Education Center

·        Assist the Executive Director in other projects as requested

Education & Experience Requirements:

·     Bachelor’s degree with minimum of two years of experience; development/nonprofit or related experience preferred

·     Knowledge of fundraising software/databases and working in a nonprofit office

·     Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications: MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, fundraising software (such as Donor Perfect), and Adobe Creative Suite

·     Experience coordinating multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Critical Skills/Competencies:

·     Interest in a nonprofit/fundraising career

·     Strong computer software skills to include proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, and confidence integrating online platforms, new software systems, databases, etc.

·     Detail-oriented, and strong writing and communication skills

·     Ability to handle confidential donor information

·     Ability to adapt and maintain flexibility in changing environments

·     Positive, can-do attitude

·     Help maintain a positive work environment and to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team while also being able to manage the work responsibilities independently.
