Bishop DuBourg High School

The Director of Marketing should have a degree in Marketing/Communications, or a compatible field, and/or work experience in Marketing/Communications. This is a full-time position that reports directly to the President and the Principal and collaborates with the staff, alumni and other stakeholders to effectively communicate the Bishop DuBourg mission and its events. This person will serve as a member of the Advancement Team and focus on communicating the school’s mission and vision both internally and externally through publications, newsletters, marketing materials, website, social media, and school activities. Knowledge and experience in graphic design, basic website design, digital photography, and social media platforms is required. The primary functions of this person include, but are not limited to:

Advancement Team

1.      Attend all faith activities at Bishop DuBourg including the Faculty/Staff Day of Prayer in August, Wednesday morning faculty/staff prayer and meetings, and all-school Masses.

2.      Attend bi-weekly Advancement Team meetings, contributing to them, and assisting the entire team in advancing the mission in a consistent, vital and attractive way, especially through written and electronic media.

Web Site & Social Media

1.      Manages the daily content, updates, and layout of the Bishop DuBourg website, www.bishopdubourg.org, and all social media sites (i.e., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linked-In, Hoot Suite, etc.).

2.      The website and social media sites should be updated daily, or if needed, more often. The website should be reviewed weekly for stale or out of date material.

3.      Actively gather material from teachers, staff, parent organizations, Athletic Department, etc., and post newsworthy material on the website and/or social media sites.

4.      Ensures appropriate material is posted on the DB website and social media sites in a timely manner. “Timely posting” may be as soon as the same day as the event or the next day.

5.      Responsible for appropriateness of all material posted on the DB website and DB social media sites.

6.      Develop creative ways to engage our constituents on social media platforms.

7.      The primary liaison with the DB website designer. Works with the designer to update the DB website in an expeditious manner.

8.      Develop/execute set of standards for posting on social media/website. Guidelines for entire organization to follow.

E-Newsletter (Currently hosted by Constant Contact e-marketing service)

1.      Manages all aspects of publication of the monthly E-Newsletter. Actively gathers, edits, and publishes material from the faculty, staff, parent organizations, Athletic Department, etc. for each addition of the E-Newsletter. Collaborates with the Principal on the major themes for each edition of the E-Newsletter.

2.      Develops and writes the content for the E-Newsletter. Prepares all necessary data, articles, and content. Formats and edits all content for the E-Newsletter with regard to layout.

3.      Ensures the timely posting of the E-Newsletter on the DB website.

4.      Emails copies of the E-Newsletter to DB feeder schools, parishes, interested agencies, and alumni.

Cavalier Magazine

1.      Manages all aspects of publication of the Cavalier Magazine. Publishes the Cavalier Magazine once or twice annually, as directed in the DB Marketing Plan or by the President.

2.      Publishes the Mini-Cavalier as directed in the DB Marketing Plan or by the President.

3.      Develops and writes the content for the Cavalier Magazine and Mini-Cavalier. Gathers all data, articles, and content necessary to create both publications from faculty, staff, board members, alumni, etc. Formats and edits all content for both publications.

4.      Develops and creates all graphic design for the publications.

5.      Ensures the timely printing and mailing of the Cavalier Magazine and Mini-Cavalier to all constituents.

6.      Work with data coordinator to prepare, organize, and validate the mailing list necessary for mailing both publications and then forward the mailing list to the printer.

7.      Ensures timely delivery of the Cavalier Magazine and the Mini-Cavalier to the Post Office for distribution.

8.      Ensures the timely posting of the Cavalier Magazine and Mini-Cavalier on the DB website. Provides links, as appropriate, on DB social networking sites.

9.      Act as primary contact and liaison for all vendors – printers, photographers, designers, mail house etc.

Graphic Design (Adobe Suite, Canva, Quirk, Microsoft Word)

1.      Design all marketing, advertising and photography material in house for web, social media, print, outside advertising, in-house advertising, events etc.

2.      Research current design trends and styles.

3.      Attend training courses to stay updated on software.

4.      Assist other staff on creating graphic materials for their various needs, so that all designs are presented consistently and cohesively throughout all our marketing.

Additional Duties

1.      Collaborates with other Advancement Team members and the President for the production of advertising materials.

2.      Provides guidance on which media to advertise in, including Catholic publications.

3.      The main point of contact for creating approved advertising material and ensuring its timely and accurate publishing.

4.      Coordinates with the President or Principal for approval of all advertising material and the cost associated with its development and publication.

5.      Writes and distributes news/press releases to local media. Coordinates with the Archdiocesan Director of Communications & Planning and/or Archdiocesan Director of Marketing & Community Relations as necessary.

6.      Advertises and promotes Bishop DuBourg to elementary schools, parishes, and publics.

7.      Gathers, edits, and releases noteworthy stories about students, Honor Roll names to appropriate elementary schools and parishes.

8.      Manages all news/advertising related information. Periodically updates media contact list, advertising deadlines, pricing structures, etc. Acts as primary contact liaison for all public relations, media involvement.

9.      Assists Advancement Team in proof reading, editing, and mailing materials the Advancement Team is responsible for creating.

10.   Takes pictures of school activities, events and individuals that can be used to promote DB and include in published materials (both printed and electronic).

11.   Manages, catalogues, and archives pictures taken by the Director of Marketing, as well as other individuals and organizations.

Events/Activities

1.      Expected to be of assistance in a variety of ways to our major fundraising events, especially the Gala Auction, Hall of Fame dinner, and Golf Tournament.

2.      Takes photographs or delegates someone to take photographs at all DB events of note such as special meetings, activities, etc.

Each aspect of the Director of Marketing job requires active, and sometimes persistent, management and follow up to ensure the assignment is accomplished in a timely manner. The Director of Marketing is also tasked with all other duties as assigned by the DB President or Principal.
