Job Summary:
Responsible for the maintenance, custodial and horticulture needs of the Endangered Wolf Center on a day-to-day basis. This position is a “hands-on” position and the individual will not only need to be able to work independently but with different departments. This position will also coordinate with non-staff contractors to provide supplemental services.
This is a full-time, 40 hours-per-week position. The work week for this position will be Tuesday through Saturday, with the occasional shifts for special events.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring the general upkeep of facility buildings, and vehicles (including maintenance, service, utilities, fuel, registration);
- Responsible for general landscaping needs at the Center, including but not limited to gardening, cutting grass, weed removal and grounds beautification projects;
- Manages formal/written requests from all departments for minor maintenance services and performs requested maintenance services in a timely manner;
- Performs minor carpentry work as needed;
- Responsible for removal of trash and recycling from all buildings daily;
- Informs the Executive Director of any ongoing or serious maintenance or facility issues;
- Responsible for maintaining the highest level of safety in the workplace through implementation of safety protocols and procedures;
- Serves as a standing member of the Safety Committee;
- Cleans, maintains, and cares for all tools and equipment needed for job assignments;
- Assists in the management of EWC capital projects as directed by the Executive Director;
- Responsible for custodial duties at the Center’s events and assists with planning and coordination of events as directed by the Executive Director; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Ability to perform general maintenance duties, including basic electrical small engine repair and woodworking;
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and respond to inclement weather conditions;
- Ability and willingness to be flexible with tasks;
- Good communication skills;
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel;
- Ability to work some additional days for the Center’s special events;
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with all departments;
- Preferred qualification: skills in one or more of the following areas: welding, carpentry, electricity, HVAC, etc.
