2.  General Description

The Gateway180 Marketing and Events Coordinator is responsible for generating philanthropic and other socially motivated events funding and marketing opportunities to support Gateway180’s programs and services. The Marketing and Events Specialist works closely with the Executive Director, Development Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Business Office, and Board of Directors to help execute a comprehensive events strategy and develop and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships between individual, corporate, foundation, institutional and major donors. The Marketing and Events Specialist will also work to increase public awareness of the organization in the community by assisting with implementing and strengthening a consistent strategic marketing plan and messaging and branding.

3.     Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and execute overall communications strategy, including but not limited to: website content, social media, quarterly newsletter, press releases, and donor appeals. Update our annual and impact reports, event publications, brochures, direct mailing, and marketing videos.
  • Write, edit and proofread articles, fact sheets, memos, testimony, online content, grant applications and reports.
  • Track website and social media metrics across all social media platforms and use.
  • Cultivate and maintain close working relationships with media partners, local groups, and individuals to advance and expand Gateway180’s mission and services.
  • Work closely with Gateway180 staff on coordination of community outreach for special events and programs.
  • Coordinates (with the help of the development department) all fundraising events, including but not limited to Gateway180 Golf Classic, Open Your Heart for the Homeless Gala, 3rd Party Fundraising Events and the Annual Appeal.
  • Coordinate all public relations and media relating to for Gateway180 Golf Classic and the Open Your Heart for the Homeless Gala and other major fundraising events.
  • Assist with solicitation of corporate sponsors and donors.
  • Staff liaison to board committees (Marketing, Gala, and Development).
  • Other duties as assigned

4.     Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 to 3 years marketing and event experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills, and ability to multi-task, and manage competing deadlines with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Quick learner with ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while adapting quickly to changing needs of the organization
  • Ability to work with, relate to, and communicate with members, participants, staff, committees, donors, Board of Directors and people from various socio-economic and diverse backgrounds in a consistently professional manner, to handle sensitive constituent issues with discretion and tact, and to be conscientious and respectful of individuals living with a mental condition and their family members and friends
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for Gateway180’s mission to provide education, support, and advocacy for those individuals living with a mental health condition, their family, and friends
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for special events
  • Mastery in WordPress, Facebook Business Manager, Microsoft Office Suite, CRM Databases, and social media platforms
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for special events
  • Non-profit experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Gateway180 programs and services is preferred

5.     Occupational Health and Safety

All Gateway180 employees are responsible and accountable for:

  • Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.
  • Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety.
  • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace.
  • Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Be updated on immunizations as required in keeping our families safe.
  • As mandatory reporters, case managers are responsible for reporting any client behavior to the Department of Family Services through their 24-hour hotline.
