The Camp Rainbow Foundation

In this newly created position for the organization, the individual will report directly to the Executive Director with responsibility for creating and implementing a strategic development plan that includes all facets of fundraising from: putting in place foundational fundraising tools such as a donor database, a communications plan that capitalizes on the marketing efforts in place, and raising funds for the operations and programs of the organization.

Hours/Work Schedule:

Full time, may require some evenings and weekends.  This position operates both within an office as well as within the community.

About Camp Rainbow Foundation:

The Camp Rainbow Foundation provides free camp experiences and programs for children and families affected by cancer and blood-related diseases.

We provide a recreational and nurturing environment for campers and their families where children can create positive memories, build self-esteem, make new friends and are relieved of the everyday stresses caused by their illness. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(C) (3) organization.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a team player. This is a new position for the Foundation and is a development office of one.  The following describes some of the responsibilities that the candidate will be expected to perform over the course of their employment:

  • Identifying, cultivating and stewarding prospective donors.
  • Create and implement an annual development plan with increased funding targets that uses comprehensive fundraising strategies from face-to-face asks, events and direct mail solicitations.
  • Maintain a donor database.
  • Create with the organization’s team donor communications and collateral and work with communications office on social media and other means to communicate with donors.
  • Planning and evaluating fundraising campaigns and activities.
  • Managing all aspects of the organization’s fundraising activities.
  • Oversight on existing organization events.

Key Relationships

  • Donors – primary relationship with donors and prospective donors.
  • Organization Staff – The candidate will work closely with all members of the organization’s staff.  The development director will work closely with the Executive Director.
  • Board of Directors – This person will work with the Board to develop short and long term plans to meet Board approved objectives and to develop policies to guide fundraising programs.  Additionally, this person will teach Board fundraising skills through ongoing training and support.
  • Leadership, Volunteers and Camp Staff – This person will work with the Leadership Team including Camp Rainbow staff to build fulfill organizational objectives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and 1-3 years of related experience in a non-profit organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in grant writing
  • Demonstrated history of identifying, solicitation, and development of new sources of donations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to show discretion with sensitive and confidential information
  • Proven ability and willingness to solicit and secure gifts
  • Ability to build relationships with individuals from various backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Experience with Etapestry, Raiser’s Edge, or similar database
  • Use of Google Suite
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
