St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

St. Peters Episcopal Church is a joy-filled church in the St. Louis suburb of Ladue.  Our parish is home to approximately 1,100 parishioners with an average Sunday attendance of 275.  Our parishioners are active in both the church and the community.  St. Peter’s is experiencing growth in membership and financial needs and is seeking a Development Director who will expand and enhance our financial giving strategy.

POSITION SUMMARY

St. Peter’s is seeking an individual to plan and direct annual giving and implement a legacy giving program.  The Development Director should be a person of faith who understands fundraising as a ministry – encouraging financial contribution that will support the Church’s mission.  The 2019 budget is $1.6 million and increases each year as determined by the clergy and lay leadership.

This part-time position will primarily be concentrated during the church program year, September-May, and allows for flexible hours throughout the year, to be agreed upon with the Rector.  The Development Director will work directly with the Rector, the Parish Administrator, and lay leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in development of fundraising to support the annual budget
  • Develop strategies to meet current goals: increase the number of donor households and establish a legacy society that will support growth of the endowed funds
  • Develop an understanding of church members at all “ages and stages” as it pertains to their financial support
  • Provide professional support to a Parish Stewardship Committee, consisting of a Chair, a Vestry Stewardship designate, and select parishioners
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with a dynamic staff in order to publish information, provide content for parish website, and assist in acknowledgement of gifts
  • Sign and adhere to parish and Diocesan policies on confidentiality and conduct

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, commensurate experience will be considered
  • Experience in methods of fundraising, annual fund development, and planned giving
  • Experience in the non-profit sector, faith based experience preferred but not required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Energetic, organized, goal oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Shared passion for the essential need for fundraising in a faith based community
  • Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office
