Rung for Women is looking for like-minded individuals to join our team of passionate and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to inspiring women to climb the economic ladder. Rung offers professional and personal development opportunities, along with a supportive community of women who want to earn a thriving wage and overcome the systemic economic, social, and health barriers to wealth creation.
We believe in unlocking potential and possibilities in our staff and Members. In 2024, Rung will focus on career pathways in the technology and advanced manufacturing industries. Rung for Women partners with employers and training providers who offer a fast-track to a new career through short-term industry-specific training, on-the-job training, and/or apprenticeships. Our Members gain access to a community of like-minded women, health and wellness amenities, and childcare to support them in achieving their goals.
Since our launch in March of 2021, more than 500 women have begun a journey with Rung. Many of them have completed coaching, and career training, and have achieved better employment opportunities and increased their income.

Position summary: This position supports the financial reporting function in Rung’s Operations department. The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for financial/grant reporting and tracking, supporting month-end close process, reconciliations, and providing general accounting support at Rung for Women. How you’ll help Rung achieve our vision: The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for ensuring month-end close documentation are reconciled and submitted timely, that all Members receive high quality Career Development coaching experiences that lead to personal and professional growth and support Members in clarifying their individual career goals. This position also supports Members’ experience and retention in Rung’s program.
What you will do:
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Generate financial reports and analysis as needed, including grant reporting and tracking.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Grant Accounting and Reporting:
- Develop detailed grant budgets.
- Monitor budget adherence and variances.
- Adjust budgets as needed and obtain necessary approvals for changes.
- Prepare and submit regular financial reports to grantors.
- Implement and monitor internal controls related to grant management.
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Process invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders.
- Prepare and issue invoices to customers and clients.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Ensure accurate credit card coding and the collection of all receipts to support transactions.
Assistance with Audits:
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Provide documentation and information as requested by auditors.
General Accounting Support
- Provide support to Operations, Advancement and 3rd Party Accounting vendor as needed.
- Assist in conducting audits and reconciling accounts.
- Perform other accounting tasks and projects as assigned.
- Provide low-level accounting/financial reporting education to Rung staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Some experience in accounting or finance roles (internship experience may be considered).
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Prior experience working with grant expense tracking and grant reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
What you need to bring us:
- Passion for Rung’s vision and mission
- Prior experience in career training/workforce development preferred
- Proven experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
- Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills
- Knowledge of course development software Learning Management Systems
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
- Understanding of non-traditional careers for women and occupational segregation
- Previous experience leading diverse teams that consistently achieve results
- Demonstrated experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Skill in successfully influencing/persuading others
- Ability to effectively delegate
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and a dynamic environment
- Collaborative decision-making style
- Strong commitment to achieving results
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Familiarity with CRM systems (particularly Salesforce) preferred
