The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis is to provide comfort, care, and a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children. Our objective is to enable families to practice family-centered care by providing them with all the basic comforts of home.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis has a part-time Family Care Specialist position open. This position is part of a mission-focused team of professionals providing compassion and hospitality to families with seriously ill children. This position works directly with families, staff members, guests, volunteers, and donors.
The hours for this part-time position will be in the evenings, on the weekends, and holidays as needed. The position is expected to average approximately 20-25 hours per week.
This position is responsible for welcoming guests and assisting visitors to the House. This position assists the Family Services Manager, Assistant Family Services Manager, and the Family Services Team with daily operations.
As part of RMHC the position collaborates with the team members to achieve position and organization goals in support of the RMHC mission and Core Values.

Essential Functions
- Guest Services
- Works to create a comfortable, supportive environment for guest families
- Monitors front desk to greet and check-in visitors and vendors who visit the House
- Provides tours to guests, families, vendors, and donors
- Assists guest families as needed
- Completes full check-in and check-out processes
- Develops and coordinates family-centered activities
- Prepares guest rooms for arriving families
- House Operations
- Trains, works with, and assists volunteers in completion of daily tasks
- Supports the Family Services Manager and Assistant Family Services Manager with specific tasks that could include but not limited to filling supply orders, service groups, waitlist, etc.
- Serves as a point of contact for Meals from the Heart volunteers while on-site
- Assists with accepting and processing donations
- Administration
- Answers the phone and directs calls to the appropriate person or provides correct information
- Completes data entry into RMHC guest database for guest families staying in House
- Performs special projects/assignments as directed
- Attends regularly scheduled meetings

Physical Demands
Must be able to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects. Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and lifting of moderate to heavy weight material up to 25 lbs. Must be able to frequently climb stairs, including up to 4 flights, and frequently walk distances up to approximately 80 yards. Must be able to travel between RMH locations as needed.
