When You’re Here:

● Full-Time
● 40 hours/week
● Mon-Thurs, 8 am-6 pm
● This role includes some travel and flexible hours, essential for attending events and meetings outside of normal work hours

You Have:

● Master’s Degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a closely related field AND 4+ years experience in nonprofit fundraising, including experience in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, event planning and execution, public relations, and marketing.
● OR
● Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or closely related field AND 4+ years experience in nonprofit fundraising, including experience in major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, event planning and execution, public relations, and marketing.
● 4 years of senior-level management experience with oversight of supervisors/leaders
● Experience in planned giving and digital fundraising is also highly valued.
● Minimum age of 25
● Valid driver’s license with current insurance

The Director, Advancement is a mission-driven individual who is an important member of the organization’s senior leadership team. The Director, Advancement is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of constituents, including board members, volunteers, foundations, corporations, individual donors, and the general public, and, with the help of the Executive Director, ensuring the organization maintains long-term and short-term financial stability.

The Impact You Make:

● Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop fundraising goals and strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values;implement a Comprehensive Fundraising Plan Develop that includes major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, grants, planned giving, and special events. This involves identifying and cultivating major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors, and planning and executing special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization
● Lead a dynamic team, providing coaching, training, and supervisory support as needed to promote a culture of high performance and positivity. This includes setting goals and expectations for individual team members, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to ensure that organizational goals are met or exceeded.
● Develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials. This involves developing a compelling message that resonates with potential donors, creating donor recognition programs, and crafting targeted appeals that drive donations. Implement and manage the marketing and communications plan, including, but not limited to, materials specific to fundraising, short and long-term public relations, and community engagement efforts.
● Responsible for monitoring and analyzing fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies. This involves tracking donor engagement and retention rates, analyzing revenue streams, and making data-driven decisions that help the organization achieve its fundraising goals.
● Prepare board members and other volunteers to solicit gifts from identified sources as required and participate when appropriate. Support and participate in development-related Board activities, with the Board Chair of the Advancement Committee leading this and its subcommittees.
● Oversee and coordinate the functions of the foundation, government, and corporate grant proposal and writing team.
● Monitors fundraising and strategic plans and regularly reports to the Executive Director and Board.
● Manage development and marketing activities administratively, including timelines, budgets, contact lists, correspondence, meeting materials, and minutes.
● Interacts with board members, volunteers, leadership, and community members as sources of referrals for potential major donors; and volunteers and attends meetings and fundraising events to identify and cultivate relationships with board members and prospective donors.
● Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional growth and development to keep abreast of the latest trends in nonprofit fundraising and management.
● As with life, priorities and duties can shift or be added to be as effective as possible for our scholars.

Bring Your Expertise:

● Superior organization, interpersonal, computer, and communication skills.
● A demonstrated successful track record in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects.
● Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to draft reports and correspondence consistent with the duties of this job. Interface effectively with scholars, staff, volunteers, stakeholders, donors, and community members and ability to present information and respond clearly to inquiries effectively
● Ability to promote harmonious working relationships with staff, board members, donors, and other stakeholders.
● Ability to engage and inspire active community support of BHGH and convey passion for BHGH’s mission.
● Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building rapport among donors and potential donors.
● Comfort and effectiveness with public speaking.
● Reliable use and management of various software/communication systems. Knowledge of Salesforce CRM preferred.
