Job Description: Production Manager – Nonprofit Organization

The Production Manager drives Canterbury Enterprises’ operations efforts, under the supervision of the Executive Director. This position will help ensure the execution of an efficient and productive packaging process that meets customer requirements, through the combined work of Production Supervisors & Workers with disabilities.  The position is responsible for all production staff.   The employee will effectively communicate the values and vision of Canterbury Enterprises

The nature of all work performed by this position requires the person to be detailed oriented and organized. Effective communication skills and strong customer service are very important.  This position requires that the individual be versatile and multi-dimensional with their skills and abilities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The Production Manager will have responsibility for the day-to-day production operations. They will directly supervise production staff and liaise with customers to address changing requirements.

·         Work with other leadership to formulate objectives and understand requirements
·         Analyze on-floor performance using production data to look for bottlenecks and other problems
·         Assist Executive Director in manipulating productive capacity to reach timeline and production goals
·         Assist Executive Director in directing production staff towards maximum performance
·         Assists Executive Director and Production Supervisors in identifying job tasks/steps and functions.
·         Gather and report all productivity data to management.
·         Work closely with Health and Safety committee and enforce all health & safety precautions.  Assist in making sure all health and safety trainings are being completed on a timely basis.
·         Sets up each job to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow, and makes adaptations as necessary to accommodate employees’ needs to perform jobs.
·         Assists in training, directing and monitoring employees on skill development.
·         Assist in coordinating shipping activities including preparing finished goods for shipment.
·         Provide input on maintenance work, purchasing of equipment etc.
·         Physically handles materials/packages that weigh up to 65 pounds.
·         Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

·         Knowledge of Access and Excel software/databases
·         A minimum of three years of production management experience in a leadership position.
·         Experience in evaluating, disciplining and motivating employees.  (interpersonal skills)
·         Experience and comfort with adults with developmental disabilities.
·         High degree of initiative, self-motivation, accountability and independent judgment.
·         Experience with safety and quality initiatives
