Light a Single Candle Foundation
This role will lead all of LASC’s work and presence in Guatemala & El Salvador in sustainable development for the families served by LASC and its partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as resource and support to our partners, our project work and to their community development staff in our Ag-related development initiatives. This may include project design, or technical guidance in areas such as crop selection, irrigation and soil analysis.
- Work directly with our Partners to implement impactful agricultural initiatives that will demonstrate higher yields and productivity leading to sustainable income development.
- Conduct ongoing site visits in coordination with our partners
- Guide the development of LASC Community Transformation (CT) work in Guatemala & El Salvador in coordination with the LASC CT Manager and our partners
- Convene and conduct quarterly reporting of key performance indicators (KPI) for all CT and Large Projects carried out by our partners in coordination with the LASC CT Manager and our partners.
- Foster supportive relationships to expand current and develop new partnerships
- Participate in and lead the review and monitoring of all grants pertaining to Guatemala & El Salvador in coordination with our program and grants team.
- Work alongside the LASC M&E Manager to manage the communication, reporting and impact assessment of Community Transformation projects in Guatemala & El Salvador.
Additional Expectations:
- Candidate will reside in St. Louis, MO.
- A willingness to travel independently up to 8-12 weeks per year is required.
- Participate and assist LASC leadership as needed in preparation for quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
- Assist the President and Executive Director of the foundation as requested and perform additional duties as necessary.
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel spreadsheet proficiency.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in agronomy, soil science or agriculture to include animal husbandry, horticulture, cash crops and traditional income producing crops.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Must be fluent in speaking and writing in both English and Spanish
- Wide range of knowledge regarding the development and oversight of agricultural projects
- Proficiency in math and financial aspects of agricultural projects
- Understands income development with projects and the value chain link to markets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with multiple projects at a time
- Highly organized, excellent attention to detail, and professional skills are required
- Prior experience in impact and program measurement is preferred
- Valid Passport and the ability to travel to Central America multiple times a year

Wage and Benefits:
- Will be competitive and dependent upon earnings history, skills and qualifications
- A salary range of $90,000-$115,000

Light a Single Candle Foundation was founded in 2002 and its focus is sustainable poverty recovery, food security, income development and sustainable community transformation. About 100 projects were funded through our community partners in 2023. Internationally we work in El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. In the USA we serve in St. Louis MO. In addition to our Founder/President and his spouse who take an active role in the leadership of the organization, this new role will be our 7th employee.
