Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is a service-oriented position that is responsible for the payroll operations for the Missouri Historical Society.
Essential Functions:
- Contribute to an environment that fosters teamwork, effective communication and responsiveness.
- Process the bi-weekly payroll for the Missouri Historical Society.
- Serve as liaison with Paycom concerning all payroll matters, including implementation of systemic updates and processes.
- Prepare applicable journal entries each payroll, ZMD voucher report, 403(b) & 457 remittances, and download payroll G/L interface.
- Prepare the payroll and benefits allocations
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for all appropriate payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Provide audit information for the financial statement audit and pension plan audits.
- Prepare quarterly 401A remittance lists.
- Prepare payroll data for grant allocations and reports.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
- Maintain current written procedures.
- Prepare journal entries related to the various areas in support of month-end closing.
- Perform weekly electronic payments and daily banking review.
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - High school diploma, college degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll-related work experience, Paycom payroll system experience is preferred.
Skills: - Experience with Financial Edge accounting system is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
