Position Summary:

The Payroll Specialist is a service-oriented position that is responsible for the payroll operations for the Missouri Historical Society.

Essential Functions:

  • Contribute to an environment that fosters teamwork, effective communication and responsiveness.
  • Process the bi-weekly payroll for the Missouri Historical Society.
  • Serve as liaison with Paycom concerning all payroll matters, including implementation of systemic updates and processes.
  • Prepare applicable journal entries each payroll, ZMD voucher report, 403(b) & 457 remittances, and download payroll G/L interface.
  • Prepare the payroll and benefits allocations
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all appropriate payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Provide audit information for the financial statement audit and pension plan audits.
  • Prepare quarterly 401A remittance lists.
  • Prepare payroll data for grant allocations and reports.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Maintain current written procedures.
  • Prepare journal entries related to the various areas in support of month-end closing.
  • Perform weekly electronic payments and daily banking review.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, college degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll-related work experience, Paycom payroll system experience is preferred.
    Skills:
  • Experience with Financial Edge accounting system is preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
