Come as you are and achieve better lives as part of the St. Louis Arc family of individuals in this vital role of Assistant Director of Path to Employment.  This is a NEW role that will be instrumental in developing and implementing our new Path to Employment program as part of our Day Services.  This position reports to the Vice President of Day and Employment Services.

What you will do:

  • Oversee the initial and ongoing program development and structure.
  • Hire, train, and supervise a team including direct care staff. Guide the team on the implementation of services and best practices through modeling, support, and ongoing feedback.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Path to Employment program and other programs with which they collaborate (including Day Services, Employment, Leisure, and Transition Services).
  • Secure beneficial partnerships with area nonprofit organizations to secure opportunities for volunteer work, unpaid work experiences, and assessments.
  • Effectively build business relationships that will evolve into long-term partnerships with hiring potential.
  • Manage and maintain the census and future growth of the program including supporting the intake process, managing referrals, educating the community/families about the program, managing a waitlist, and advocating for funding for individuals to attend the program.
  • Assist the referring department in creating ISP updates and justifications to request funding from the Department of Mental Health.
  • Work closely with others in Day Services to create a schedule for the most effective delivery of Path to Employment services.
  • Serve as the primary department representative to individuals, families, support staff, employers, and referral sources as participants move through the program.
  • Identify programmatic opportunities, and recommend and implement changes. Stay informed of future trends in the community and the IDD field.
  • Understand and implement all funder-related requirements related to service definitions, compliance, and quality, including mandatory reporting to funders.
  • Make data-driven programmatic decisions to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Manage the operation of the program, including operating within budget. Manage administrative duties including mileage approval, required documentation, payroll, and budget oversight.
  • Demonstrate and support all St. Louis Arc diversity and inclusion practices.

What we expect of you: 
The flexible, respectful leader we see is an innovative and quick thinker with these qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or some college required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • A minimum of five years of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities or work in an educational field required
  • Previous experience in supported employment and/or job discovery required
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience
  • A reliable vehicle (4 seat belts and working heating/cooling) with a valid driver’s license and auto insurance at the time of hire.
  • Knowledge of best practices in the field of developmental disability and community-based supports
  • Understanding of best practices regarding leadership and management of employees
  • Ability to complete CPR/FA and funder-approved supported employment curriculum, and other agency-required training —provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost.
