Position Overview

As the St. Louis Community Foundation grows, the Foundation is seeking a dynamic and creative self-starter to assist with the creation and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that further the mission of the Foundation, along with the Foundation’s annual community-wide event, Give STL Day – a 24-hour, online day-of-giving event, designed to benefit our community’s nonprofits.

The Communications Manager is an integral part of the Foundation team who will provide graphic design support; manage the Foundation’s social media and website; promote all aspects of the Foundation’s brand; interact with the public to establish relationships with nonprofits and stakeholders; coordinate events; and act as a thought partner in all marketing and communications efforts.

This position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communications and marketing while learning about the St. Louis philanthropic landscape.

Communications Manager

This position reports to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities

This position’s primary responsibility is to be a member of the Foundation team providing support to the Director of Development with the following tasks:

·        Graphic Design and Project Management of all Foundation marketing materials such as print and digital advertisements, flyers, reports, invitations, brochures, signage, fund agreements, letterhead/envelopes, infographics, and templates.

·        Manage a robust digital strategy for digital media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, video, etc.) and the website, report regularly on results and trends.

·        Assist in the effort behind Give STL Day, a community-wide, 24-hour, online day-of-giving event, designed to benefit our community’s nonprofits.

·        Assist with the development, execution, and maintenance of a      comprehensive media relations, marketing and communications plan and budget.­­

·        Maintain relationships with external and internal vendors – e.g., advertising firms, graphic designers, photographers, and videographers.

·        Assist with the communications needs for donor and community events.

·        Engage and communicate with community partners and nonprofits to build and sustain strong relationships.

·        When beneficial to the Foundation, participate in broader activities related to philanthropy.

·        Engage in professional development activities, as appropriate.

·        Applicants may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities listed.

Minimum Qualifications

·        A bachelor’s degree is required. Ideal candidate will have a degree in graphic design, public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, digital marketing, and/or social marketing studies.

·        Firm grasp and understanding of available tools and platforms in the social media space.

·        Firm grasp and understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)

·        Knowledge of HTML, grant management/donor database services, Mailchimp, WordPress and database management a plus.

·        Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

·        An effective communicator, both written and oral; strong story-telling skills a plus.

·        High energy, cross-functional, and detail-oriented approach to working in a team driven organization committed to community.

·        Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented, with good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

·        Ability to work in a team environment.

·        Typical job duties may require sitting in stationary positions for an extended period; climbing two flights of stairs; standing, reaching, and stooping while filing, copying, and storing supplies; lifting up to 15 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary will be negotiated based on experience, qualifications, and record of achievement. Minimum starting salary of $55,000. Candidate salary history will not be requested nor referenced in negotiating salary. Health, dental, and additional benefits are available.

Hours

37.5-hour work week. Office hours are 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. The Foundation offers flexible time options for its full-time employees in good standing, after 3 months of satisfactory employment.
