Overview
The Community Violence Response Coordinator will be responsible for developing and coordinating comprehensive strategies to address and respond to incidents of violence within the community. This individual will work closely with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to provide support services, promote healing, and implement preventive measures to reduce violence and its impact.
Duties
Program Development and Coordination
– Develop and implement a community-based violence response program in collaboration with local stakeholders.
– Coordinate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and community organizations to ensure a coordinated response to incidents of violence.
Crisis Intervention and Support Services
– Provide crisis intervention and support services to individuals and families affected by violence, including victims, witnesses, and their loved ones.
– Connect survivors to GASA resources such as food pantry, clothing closet, rent and utility assistance, as needed.
– Facilitate connections to partners who can assist with counseling services, legal assistance, home repair, emergency housing, and other supplemental financial support.
Community Outreach and Education
– Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about violence prevention, safety planning, and available support services.
– Develop and deliver educational workshops, trainings, and presentations on topics related to violence prevention, trauma-informed care, and conflict resolution.
Data Collection and Analysis
– Collect, analyze, and interpret data on violence trends, incidents, and outcomes to inform program planning and evaluation.
– Monitor program effectiveness and outcomes, and use data to identify areas for improvement and programmatic adjustments.
Collaboration and Partnership Building
– Build and maintain partnerships with the St. Louis Office of Violence Prevention and the St. Louis Area Violence Prevention Commission. Also work collaboratively with local agencies, organizations, and stakeholders involved in violence prevention and response efforts.
– Participate in community coalitions, task forces, and committees focused on addressing violence and promoting community safety.
Cultural Competency and Diversity
– Recognize and address the intersectionality of violence with factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
– Ensure that response efforts are culturally competent, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, criminal justice, or related field OR previous extensive experience working in violence prevention, crisis intervention, or community advocacy.
– Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and best practices in supporting survivors of violence.
– Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
– Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and writing.
– Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
– Commitment to social justice, equity, and empowerment of underserved communities.

Pay: $45,000.00 – $48,000.00 per year
