Community Engagement Coordinator – Utility Affordability 

Position: Part-Time Community Engagement Coordinator
Location: Consumers Council of MO, Inc., Cortex District
Salary: 20 hours per week/$24.00 per hour

About Us: Focusing on utility rates, personal finance, and healthcare, Consumers Council of MO works collaboratively to build a more inclusive and equitable community for Missouri consumers who are low and moderate income. We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Community Engagement Coordinator on issues related to Energy Affordability.

Position Overview: Community Engagement Coordinator will play a vital role in connecting with existing community advisory groups and other community organizations regarding utility affordability.

This position involves:

  • Organizing meetings and educating the community about energy burden and federal funds to offset utility costs.
  • Gathering valuable input on energy burden and engaging the community regarding the availability of federal loans for area utilities.
  • Engaging the community in advocacy regarding possibilities related to utility eligibility for federal loans.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, business, communications, or a related field preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
• Organize and facilitate community advisory committee meetings.
• Develop and deliver educational materials and presentations to diverse community groups.
• Actively engage with community members to gather feedback on utility cost proposals.
• Build and maintain relationships with community advisory groups and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure community input is effectively integrated.
• Assist community groups in advocacy work related to rising energy costs.
• Assist in documenting meeting outcomes and community feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in community engagement, outreach, policy, environmental issues, or related field.
  • Familiarity with and interest in energy and environmental issues is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to attend evening and weekend meetings as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, environmental studies, communications, or a related field.
