Chief Program Officer Job Description – Prosperity Connection
Job Summary
The Chief Program Officer (CPO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will play a key strategic role in executing on high-level agency goals and structures required to meet and exceed objectives, helping to position the agency for future growth. The CPO is a key executive leader responsible for overseeing and driving the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs within Prosperity Connection (PC). The CPO plays a pivotal role in shaping PC’s impact, ensuring that programs align with the PC’s goals and objectives, mission and vision.
Supervises: Director of Coaching, Director of St. Louis Builds Credit
Essential Duties

· Program Strategy and Planning
· Chief Strategist for Program Planning, Oversight and Compliance
Key Responsibilities
· Work as the chief strategist responsible for setting strategy and goals for all programmatic activity.
· Responsible for the successful leadership of the Coaching and St. Louis Builds Credit programs.
· Design and implementation of new programs, ensuring they meet identified community needs, are scalable and financially sustainable.
· Establish Objectives and identify the most relevant KPIs to assess program effectiveness, evaluating quarterly and adjusting programs to optimize outcomes.
· Analyze programmatic metrics to make data-drive decisions and recommendations for programmatic updates, additions and/or reductions.
· Working with the team to determine the best methods for data collection using Salesforce for report and communicating program impact.
· Lead and manage two directors and support them in recruiting, mentoring and managing high-performing teams of up to five coaches and three financial educators per program and within a culture of collaboration and accountability.
· Create growth plans and support the professional development of direct reports.
· In collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer, build and maintain strong relationships with partners, funders, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to advance program objectives.
· Responsible for creating and managing the annual budget for all programs.
· Responsible for staying current on best practices and innovation in the field.
· Required to attend Board of Director and Board Committee meetings as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities
· We value diverse paths to leadership – the candidate is expected to bring 7-10 years of corporate, business or nonprofit management experience, including at least three years in a senior role, through any combination of education, professional, or lived experience.
· Must demonstrate a strong passion for and enthusiasm in our work within the financial education field as demonstrated by work and/or volunteer experience.
· Ability to work with diverse constituents.
· Exemplary interpersonal skills with a strong client focus as well as the ability to engage effectively with sophisticated volunteers and donors.
· Experience in people management of teams of at least seven people.
· Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience in managing and motivating diverse teams.
· Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation.
· Creative and strategic thinker and leader with a track record of successfully leading teams to achieve organizational objectives.
· Commitment to innovation and process improvement.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a CRM – Salesforce preferred.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
· Must demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, flexible thinking and interest in working within a fast-paced, growing organization.
· Working nights and weekends and travel may be required.
Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000
