The Camp Rainbow Foundation
The Director of Donor Development will report directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive development strategy to secure $1 million to $3 million in annual funding. This individual will cultivate strong relationships with donors, corporations, foundations, and the community to advance the mission of Camp Rainbow Foundation.
The ideal candidate is a results-driven fundraising professional with a proven track record of securing significant philanthropic investments, stewarding high-value donors, and developing innovative revenue-generating initiatives.

Hours/Work Schedule
This is a full-time role that may require evenings and weekends as needed for donor cultivation, events, and meetings. The position operates both within an office setting and out in the community.

The Camp Rainbow Foundation provides free camping experiences for children undergoing treatment for, and survivors of, cancer and blood-related diseases. Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Revenue Generation
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure $1M-$3M in annual funding.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts ($10,000+) from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
Expand the corporate and foundation giving portfolio through sponsorships, partnerships, and grants.
Establish and grow a planned giving program to secure long-term financial sustainability.
Create and manage annual giving campaigns, including matching gifts, peer-to-peer fundraising, and direct donor appeals.
Oversee and execute fundraising events, including sponsorship acquisition and donor engagement initiatives.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
Develop and implement personalized donor engagement plans to build long-term relationships.
Partner with the Executive Director and Board Donor Committee to advance donor stewardship strategies.
Craft compelling donor communication materials, including impact reports, newsletters, and annual reports.
Ensure timely and meaningful gift acknowledgment and donor recognition efforts.
Maintain and grow the donor database, ensuring accurate records and meaningful insights into donor behavior.
Leadership & Strategic Planning
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to set annual and long-term fundraising goals.
Work closely with the Board Donor Committee to expand Board fundraising participation.
Train and mentor staff, volunteers, and Board to support development efforts, ensuring a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
Provide data-driven analysis on fundraising progress, donor trends, and financial projections.
Ensure compliance with fundraising best practices, donor intent, and ethical standards.
Key Relationships
Donors & Corporate Partners – Cultivate and strengthen relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation representatives.
Executive Director – Collaborate closely on fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and financial planning.
Board of Directors – Engage Board members in fundraising efforts and provide training on donor cultivation.
Camp Rainbow Staff & Volunteers – Partner with internal teams to align donor communications with program impact.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution.
3-5 years of progressive fundraising experience with a proven track record of securing high-value gifts.
Prior experience raising at least $1M annually in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
Experience in major gifts, corporate partnerships, and planned giving is highly desirable.
Fundraising & Donor Relations
Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors and corporate partners.
Strong grant writing and foundation relations experience.
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to inspire donor support.
Technical & Strategic Skills
Experience using donor management software such as Raiser’s Edge, eTapestry, or Salesforce NPSP.
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), and CRM databases.
Strong analytical and reporting skills to track fundraising progress and donor engagement.

Benefits & Culture
Salary: $85,000 – $95,000 (commensurate with experience)

To recognize and reward outstanding performance, this position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus of up to 10% of base salary. Bonus consideration is based on achieving key fundraising and donor engagement goals, as determined in collaboration with the Executive Director at the start of each calendar year. Specific benchmarks include annual revenue targets, portfolio growth, and strategic partnership development.
