St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Founded in 1911, the St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired (SLSBVI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the needs of adults with vision loss. SLSBVI’s programs include low vision assessment, occupational therapy, orientation and mobility instruction, vision aids, assistive technology training, transportation services, peer and support groups, counseling services, and recreational activities.

Mission: The St. Louis Society of the Blind and Visually Impaired enhances independence, empowers individuals, and enriches the lives of people who are visually impaired or blind.

Role Overview: The Administrative and Data Management Assistant provides clerical and general support to the Society’s President and Chief Executive Officer and Office of Development. Duties of the role include organizing and maintaining files, drafting and editing correspondence, preparing meeting materials and various reports, maintaining the donor information system, and assisting with client and donor events.

The position reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer and also works closely with the Development Office staff.

Principle Responsibilities:

1.    Supports administrative needs of the executive office including scheduling meetings and events; drafting and editing correspondence; preparing reports, meeting agendas and materials; organizing and maintaining electronic and paper files.

2. Under the supervision of the Director of Development manages processing of charitable contributions to the organization, including posting of all donations and pledge receivables into the donor information system.

3.  Creates, maintains and updates records in the donor information system. Compiles and analyzes data files for reports, recognition displays, stewardship initiatives and mailings. Assures accuracy of donor and gift information. Works with agency bookkeeper to reconcile gift receipts with the accounting system on a monthly basis.

4.  Prepares gift acknowledgment letters and other donor communications as requested.

5. Assists in coordinating details for board and committee meetings,  annual fund raising gala, and other events.

Requirements:

SLSBVI seeks an administrative professional with demonstrated experience and accomplishments in the principal accountabilities stated for this position. Associate degree in business or related field is required with minimum of four years of experience preferably in the non-profit sector, inclusive of clerical, data entry, data management, and customer service responsibilities. The position also requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor information systems or CRM platforms, excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, and experience in managing confidential information.
