Soulard Education Center
The Soulard Education Center is the nonprofit support organization for The Soulard School, a free, public charter K-5 elementary school in St. Louis City. We advance the school’s mission through fundraising, grant management, and community-building events that support The Soulard School’s mission to be a community dedicated to educating its children so they can be empowered academically, grow emotionally, and build authentic connections. Our small, collaborative team is focused on creating meaningful relationships and sustainable growth for our community.
The Development Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the development operations of the Soulard Education Center. This position is responsible for managing donor data, maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely donor acknowledgments, tracking grants, and supporting fundraising and community-building events and reports to the Development Director.
This role ensures that donor communications, acknowledgments, and grant processes run smoothly and on time. Ideal candidates will bring strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to deadlines, and comfort working with multiple platforms, including Salesforce, Mailchimp, and OneCause.
Key Responsibilities:
Database & Donor Management
- Maintain and update donor database (Salesforce), ensuring data accuracy and integrity
- Generate donor reports, giving histories, and segmentation lists as needed
- Coordinate and execute timely donor acknowledgment letters and receipts
- Manage mailing lists and audience segments in Mailchimp
Grants & Reporting - Track grant deadlines and reporting requirements
- Support the preparation and timely submission of grant proposals and reports
- Maintain an organized calendar of grant cycles and supporting documents
Event Support & Technology Coordination
- Manage event data and logistics using Basecamp and OneCause software
- Assist with guest registration, auction item tracking, and donor recognition for events
- Provide administrative and onsite support for fundraising and community-building events (including occasional evenings/weekends)
Systems & Administration
- Maintain organized digital files in Google Drive
- Use Microsoft Excel and Word for data processing, mail merges, and reports
- Collaborate with the development team to streamline processes and ensure timely communication with supporters
- Support tracking and reporting of fundraising metrics
- Assist with meeting scheduling, file organization, and Development team calendar
- Collaborate cross-functionally with school leadership and staff to align fundraising with school needs
- Provide support for board-related activities, including preparing board packets, coordinating board correspondence, and attending meetings to take notes and compile minutes
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, data management, or administrative roles
- Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM systems
- Experience with Mailchimp, OneCause (or similar event software), Google Workspace, Excel, and Word
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong writing and communication skills, especially for acknowledgments and reports
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
- Availability for some evening or weekend event support
Preferred But Not Required:
- Prior experience in a school or child-focused nonprofit
Comfort troubleshooting software issues and training others on system use - Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools for light document or email formatting
Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly, part-time, position, $24-26/hour. Weekly hours 20-25, year-round.
