Organization Description: The Greater St. Louis Dental Society (GSLDS) is a non-profit association with a membership of nearly 1,000 dentists in the Greater St. Louis area. The Society was founded more than 150 years ago, and currently provides networking, social and educational opportunities for dentists and their staff. We offer a fun and dynamic working environment.
Position Description: We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager who enjoys leading marketing efforts, creating attractive and compelling print work, and using creativity to enhance the image of GSLDS and our programs. This includes the design and layout of all printed publications, website maintenance and both paid and organic social media. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivating, detailed oriented individual with the proven ability to exercise considerable independent judgment. They will be free to establish their own method for completing work and expected to operate within a budget, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Duties & responsibilities include:
–Handle all aspects of Society’s quarterly magazine: design and layout, article gathering/coordination, printing/mailing, recruiting and managing advertisers.
–Write, design and produce postcards, brochures, flyers, etc. for Dental Society membership events.
–Write, design and produce the exhibitor prospectus, course registration booklet and all related materials for the Society’s two-day annual convention, the Mid-Continent Dental Congress.
–Collaborate with the Meetings Director on marketing and sponsorships for the annual convention to create value and fulfill perks for sponsors.
–Collaborate with the Membership Director on membership recruitment and retention events, design themes and related items.
–Maintain and expand the Society’s social media presence through follower campaigns and regular posts.
–Manage the Society’s paid social media advertising.
–Maintain the Society’s website and the annual convention website.
–Manage all mass member emails to include a monthly e-newsletter; manage all mass emails to potential annual convention attendees.
–Create the annual printed membership directory, and track and solicit advertisers.
–Recruit and manage advertising clients for digital channels.
–Various administrative duties as needed to support a small team with all employees wearing multiple hats.
Requirements & Qualifications:
–Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, or public relations preferred
–3+ years’ work experience
–Experience working in a non-profit organization preferred
–Professional demeanor with a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work independently required
–Strong project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, multitasking and prioritization
–Self-motivating, and able to thrive in a fast paced, high-energy environment while balancing competing priorities and deadlines
–Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment
–3+ years’ experience and proficiency in Adobe design software, Canva, Mailchimp, and Constant Contact
–Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Work Schedule
Full-time Position: Monday – Thursday, flexible hours between 8:00am and 5:30pm, and a half day on Friday; 35-hour work week.
Non-standard hours possible to include some evenings, and 1-3 Saturday events annually. Flex time for non-standard hours provided.
