CASA of St. Louis

Position Summary: The Director of Development and Communications is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all fundraising and external communications activities to support the mission and strategic goals of CASA of St. Louis. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring financial sustainability, increasing community awareness, and strengthening relationships with donors, partners, media, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

Development (Fundraising) – 65%

Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan including annual giving, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, and special events.

Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.

Prepare compelling proposals, reports, and stewardship materials for funders.

Oversee donor database management (DonorPerfect).

Manage fundraising events including sponsorships, logistics, and post-event follow-up.

Coordinate with the Development Committee for Board fundraising efforts and provide tools/training to support their engagement.

Communications & Marketing – 25%

Develop and implement an annual communications plan aligned with CASA’s mission and branding.

Manage internal and external communications including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.

Serve as media liaison and oversee public relations efforts to raise awareness of CASA’s work and impact.

Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and materials.

Coordinate storytelling initiatives, including interviews with volunteers, donors, and CASA youth (with confidentiality considerations).

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration – 10%

Participate as a key member of the leadership team in strategic planning and organizational development.

Work collaboratively with program and administrative staff to align messaging and fundraising with CASA’s goals and impact.

Engage and support the Board’s Development Committee.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field strongly preferred.

7+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, and communications.

Proven track record in cultivating and securing individual and institutional gifts.

Experience managing a development team and volunteers.

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.

Proficiency with donor management systems and digital communication platforms.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders.

Preferred:

Knowledge of child welfare, volunteer management, or CASA/GAL programs.

Graphic design and digital marketing experience (e.g., Canva, Constant Contact, WordPress, Meta Business Suite).

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $100,000 – 115,000, commensurate with experience.
