Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis

Summary

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator oversees the marketing and communications activities of Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis, particularly within the Development Department. This position reports to the Executive Director and is currently an exempt, salaried full-time position (37.5 hours per week). The current work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm (less 30 minutes per day for lunch) and Friday 8:30am to 2:00pm. From time-to-time additional hours – including some evening and weekend hours – will be necessary to support fundraising campaigns and other development activities. The overall work schedule may be adjusted, if necessary, to best fit the needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

The following are the general responsibilities of the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. These responsibilities may be modified from time to time as necessary to best meet the needs of the organization.

Development Department Support:

·       Neon CRM database – Manage the Neon CRM database, including creating and scheduling mass emails, updating campaigns, inputting donations, updating accounts, and running reports.

·       GiveSmart – Manage all aspects of GiveSmart utilization, including serving as the point person for all inquiries, creating campaigns, managing the platform during events, and downloading data into Neon.

·       Fundraising Campaigns and Events – CSCSTL currently holds 2 annual fundraising campaigns: Steps For Hope in May and Hope After Dark in October. Additionally, CSCSTL has an annual giving campaign in November/December, and other small events throughout the year.  This position supports and participates in many aspects of the fundraising campaigns and events, including:

o   Actively participate in planning and execution.

o   Oversee related marketing and communication activities.

o   Provide logistical support as necessary, such as coordinating with vendors.

o   Attend fundraising campaigns and events.

·       Promotional materials – Manage inventory of promotional materials/swag items. Research and order additional items as necessary.

Marketing and Communications Activities:
·       Communication Plan – Develop and implement an annual communication plan for distribution of various types of communication to stakeholders throughout the year.

·       Marketing Materials – Work with the development team to design, produce, and distribute marketing and communication materials such as marketing brochures, fundraising campaign materials, donor communications, invitations, annual reports, and business cards.

·       Social Media – Develop content and manage all social media activities on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube, ensuring that all communications complement CSC STL fundraising and programming activities. Take photos at any special happenings such as grant presentations, third-party fundraisers, and such.

·       Public Relations – Be knowledgeable on all CSCSTL programs and fundraising activities and develop:

o   public relations plan for events and fundraising campaigns;

o   relationships with local media;

o   relationships with participants and program staff to appropriately identify people, stories, and situations that are relevant and appropriate to communicate to the public and other audiences; and

o   pitch ideas for press coverage

·       Quarterly Program Newsletter – Develop and produce the development department portion of CSCSTL’s quarterly newsletter.

·       Web-Site Management – Serve as the primary contact for website management and make website modifications as needed.

Fundraising:
While this position will assist with all development activities, they will be responsible for two key components of the fundraising plan:

·       Young Professionals Board

o   Support recruitment and membership opportunities;

o   Develop a yearly schedule and goals for meetings/events; and

o   Attend events/meetings.

·       Third-Party Fundraising Opportunities

o   Conduct research to identify potential third-party events/partners.

o   Serve as contact for Third Party Fundraising Events.

o   Ensure recognition is given to all third-party fundraising event organizers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

·       Exceptional writing skills

·       Creative

·       Proficient in social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X, Linked-in, and YouTube

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·       Strong interpersonal skills, outgoing, and desire to be public-facing

·       Organized and detail-oriented

·       Established project and time management skills and follow-up procedures

·       Ability to multitask, think independently, and solve problems

Preferred Qualifications

·       Familiarity with Canva

·       Donor database experience
