St. Louis County Library

The Adult Services Department is seeking a full-time Adult Programming Specialist to provide quality support to the Adult Services department by performing a variety of organizational, communicative, and programming-related tasks and acts as liaison with outside entities

The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.

Hours:
Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week
Evenings and weekends may be required

Essential Responsibilities:

Plans, prepares, schedules, and presents programs, training, and outreach to engage an adult audience and staff.
Maintains organization in the Adult Services department to plan and support Library programming.
Performs a variety of duties to assist the Adult Services department and branch staff in planning and preparation for programs and displays.
Represents the Library in various communications with area organizations, vendors, and businesses to meet the goals of the Adult Services department.
Organizes information, gathers statistics and prepares reports for adult programs and initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree
Experience planning and implementing adult programs preferred
Ability to use a computer and other office machines
Must possess a commitment to a high level of public service to Library patrons and staff
Must possess good judgment, analytical, and problem solving skills
Must possess excellent communication and organization skills
Ability to manage several projects at one time, establishing priorities as needed
Advanced knowledge of Zoom platform for meetings and webinars
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to bend to very low and very high shelves when reaching for books or other Library materials
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Ability to push a full cart of books or other Library materials
Ability to stand for up to eight hours per shift
Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to operate various types of Library software and equipment
Ability to use a pc, word processing, email, Zoom, and AV equipment
