Delta Center for Independent Living

Delta Center is a non-profit Center for Independent Living.  Our mission is to partner with people with disabilities and their communities to remove barriers and promote positive changes leading to greater independence for all.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Executive Director.

Director of Development: 

Delta Center has been a tremendously successful non-profit for 28 years through a variety of funding sources.  In order to expand and do more of our outstanding work, the Board is committed to including more traditional fundraising in our business strategy.  The Director of Development has the opportunity to build, from the ground up, a successful plan where there is a blank slate and the sky is the limit.

Primary Duties

* Work in partnership with the Executive Director, consultants, and  leadership team to develop a budget and communicate funding priorities for the organization.

* Participate in the development of a case for funding to guide annual fundraising efforts.

* Working with consultants and leadership, prepare an annual development plan with monthly, quarterly, and yearly activity and progress goals and actively track and communicate progress with Executive Director, Board and other leadership.

* Effectively implement an annual plan to meet agreed upon financial goals as well as retention and upgrade objectives.
Provide counsel to leadership through participation in Leadership Team meetings.

* Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors at all levels.
Working with the Board and leadership staff, identify major gifts prospects and ensure that these are cultivated and solicited in an appropriate and deliberate manner.

* Assist in the creation of a Board Development Committee consisting of Board members, donors and members of the community.

* Oversee marketing and social media efforts that support fundraising.

* Oversee the management of fundraising events, database management, including gift processing and acknowledgement processes.

* Create ongoing, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Development Department.

Ideal Qualifications

·        Three to five years of fundraising experience.

·        Experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors.

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·        Ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external constituencies.

·        Ability to work with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

·        Strong organizational and time management skills.

·        Ability to work independently while also working as a member of the team.

·        Comfort with basic software packages (Microsoft Suite, fundraising databases, etc.)

·        CFRE certification preferred

·        Demonstrated success cultivating donors and soliciting gifts.

·        Experience with strategic planning and nonprofit budgeting.
