Gifted Resource Council
Gifted Resource Council is seeking a dynamic, creative and visionary leader to fill the role of Executive Director.
Gifted Resource Council is a not-for-profit education agency serving the greater St. Louis Metropolitan area. Its mission is to bring together the resources of the community, schools and parents to help bright and talented children achieve their potential. Gifted Resource Council has offered programs for children between the ages of three and fourteen since its inception in 1983. Its three major areas of programming are: Academic Challenge Cup, Learning Lab and Summer Academies. During 2025, 1,311 children were served.
Location: Office in Creve Coeur; programming offered in area schools
Compensation: $70,000+ depending on experience; 403(b) retirement plan
Status: Full-time – flexible, including some weekends
The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and have overall responsibility for all GRC programs and activities. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Leadership | Executive Responsibilities
Brings leadership, a sense of inclusiveness and community vision to a devoted group of gifted education professionals. Familiarity with and empathy toward gifted children, their parents and teachers is paramount.
Program Development and Implementation | Operational Responsibilities
· Provides instructional leadership for all GRC programs; responsible for recruiting and hiring of GRC teachers and staff.
· Works directly with teachers to develop and plan Summer Academies and Learning Lab classes; provides on-site supervision for same.
· Oversees Academic Challenge Cup including work with volunteer committee, preparatory meetings and event implementation.
· Identifies and promotes Parenting Class presenters
· Directs procurement of supplies for programs; supervises moving of all materials to summer site.
· Responds to concerns regarding individual children; manages all teacher/student/parent issues to positive resolution.
Advancement Responsibilities
· Leads all development activities; communicates with current and potential donors; writes grant requests and follow-up reports; writes development letters.
· Spearheads the development and execution of marketing, advertising, public relations, community outreach including social media, website, and overall communications strategies
Organization Management
· Reports regularly to GRC Board of Directors; serves as ex officio member of all Board committees
· Prepares and monitors annual budget; oversees all financial decisions, reports, etc.; responsible for approving expenditures, signing checks, etc.
· Negotiates for use of facilities for all GRC programs and office space
· Oversees all daily office activities with Office Manager
· Provides direction for and works with volunteers
Job Requirements and Qualifications
· Expertise in work with gifted education community; hands-on experience with education professionals, parents, children
· Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
· Proven interpersonal managerial skills; aptitude for hiring and supervising staff
· Knowledge of and experience with the nonprofit sector
· Experience with successful grant-writing and development activities
· Working competency with office technology and software
· Bachelor’s Degree or higher with 5+ years’ experience in a related field
· A high level of integrity, a strong work ethic, a self-starter, who is excellent at time management with ability to focus on priorities; willing to learn and adopt new strategies
· Ability to be the “face of the organization” for Gifted Resource Council.
