Job Status: Part-Time – 15 hours / week, 3-6pm daily
Salary: $18 – $20 per hour based on experience
Position Description:
As a leader at the Middle School Scholars at LifeWiseStl Young Scholars Program (YSP), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the scholars. Your guidance and supervision will be instrumental in developing and acquiring the skills necessary for these scholars to matriculate into High School.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Academic
• Your primary focus will be on nurturing the academic and critical thinking skills of Middle School Scholars. The ability to analyze information from multiple sources and use it to make informed decisions. Inculcating strong study skills that will prepare them for the rigor of High School and College
Psychosocial Development
• The capacity to recognize and guide Middle School Scholars as they transition from one development milestone to another, which will encapsulate the next ten or so years of their lives
Social-Emotional Skills
• Foster an environment that helps increase self-awareness and self-regulation. Focusing on the development and the capacity for self-expression, communication, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and taking ownership of actions and decision-making
Life and Organizational Skills
• Helping to foster an environment that puts a premium on Time Management, Organization, Goal Making and Positive Risk-Taking
Healthy Lifestyles
• Help Scholars understand the importance of nutrition, physical care of the body and avoidance of risky behaviors
Required Experience and Skills:
• Education – Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Development, Social Sciences, and other related fields.
• Experience working with Middle School students in a classroom or Out-of-School-Time setting, -or- demonstrated knowledge and 3-5 years of working with this specific cohort will be considered in lieu of educational requirements
Working Conditions:
• On-site at LifeWise StL 3-6pm daily
• Participation in a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced environment
