About Girls in the Know
Girls in the Know (GITK) empowers pre-teen girls to embrace a strong sense of self. Through our signature Empowerment Workshop Series and community partnerships, we support girls and the trusted adults in their lives during the critical years of adolescence. GITK is a growing nonprofit expanding its reach beyond St. Louis.
Position Overview
The Program Director provides strategic and operational leadership for all GITK programs. This role oversees program design, delivery, quality, safety, and growth while supervising program staff, practicum students, and volunteers. The Program Director represents GITK in the community and ensures all programming aligns with the organization’s mission, values, and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all in-person and virtual Empowerment Workshop Series (school- and community-based)
- Ensure program quality, safety protocols, and continuous improvement, including annual curriculum review
- Supervise program staff, practicum students, and volunteers
- Oversee volunteer and speaker recruitment, training, background checks, and engagement
- Manage program scheduling, logistics, materials, and site operations
- Track and review program data, outcomes, and budgets; prepare regular reports for leadership and board committees
- Serve as staff lead to the Board Program Committee
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools and community organizations
- Represent GITK in the community and support organizational fundraising and stewardship efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Master of Social Work (MSW) required
- Minimum 3 years of nonprofit program management experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing educational or training content for youth and/or adults
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience supervising staff and volunteers
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, growing organization
- Flexible, collaborative, and mission-driven
- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle
Working Conditions
Hybrid position (remote and in-office)
Some evenings, early mornings, and weekends required
Compensation
Full-time (40 hours/week). Salary commensurate with experience.
