Job Title: Marketing & Communications Manager

Salary Range: $52,000–$62,000 (commensurate with experience)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketing & Communications Manager plays a critical role in advancing Springboard to Learning’s mission by strengthening organizational visibility, expanding community awareness, and supporting the growth and stewardship of our donor base. This position requires an exceptional writer and editor with meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of nonprofit marketing and development, and the ability to translate impact into compelling, donor‑centered storytelling.
The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing clear, consistent, and engaging communications across all platforms, supporting fundraising and donor communications, managing marketing systems and databases, and ensuring brand integrity. This role collaborates closely with program, development, and leadership staff and serves as a key ambassador of Springboard’s mission and impact.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Marketing & Messaging
Develops and implements messaging and brand strategy that increases awareness of Springboard to Learning’s programs, impact, and value to the community.
Ensures consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across all internal and external communications.
Serves on the staff Leadership Team, providing strategic marketing insight to advance organizational goals.
Writing, Editing & Content Development
Writes, edits, and proofs high‑quality content for all organizational communications, including:
Annual report
Newsletters and e‑updates
Donor appeals and acknowledgment letters
Fact sheets, brochures, and organizational collateral
Event invitations and promotional materials
Grant narratives and supporting materials, as assigned
Maintains exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, clarity, brand consistency, and grammatical precision in every piece produced.
Digital Marketing & Communications
Manages and updates the organization’s WordPress‑based website, including written content, visuals, attachments, and search engine optimization.
Oversees all social media platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others), developing content that builds engagement, increases reach, and supports fundraising and program goals.
Monitors performance analytics to continually refine content and outreach strategies.
Public Relations & Outreach
Writes and distributes press releases and media communications to expand visibility and strengthen relationships with community partners and media outlets.
Coordinates marketing and communications for special events, including the annual gala and program culminating events.
Designs and produces advertisements, flyers, and promotional materials for fundraising and program initiatives.
Donor Communications & Database Support
Manages donor and event management databases, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
Oversees donor correspondence related to gifts, including acknowledgment letters and stewardship communications.
Supports efforts to grow and retain the donor base through thoughtful, personalized, and mission‑focused communication.
Manages the organizational grants calendar and supports grant reporting timelines.
Collaboration & Leadership
Serves as staff liaison to the Resource Development/Marketing Committee and works closely with the Board of Directors.
Represents Marketing at Board meetings, as needed.
Recruits, trains, and supervises marketing interns when applicable.
Maintains print material, photo, and digital content archives.
Other Duties
Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required.
Demonstrated experience in nonprofit marketing and/or development.
Outstanding writing and editing skills, with experience producing donor‑focused and mission‑driven content.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail and consistent follow‑through.
Ability to Lead a one‑person department, working independently while responding to the needs and direction of multiple teammates and shifting priorities.
Experience with WordPress‑based websites.
Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Photoshop.
Experience managing social media platforms for organizations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Knowledge of brand standards, visual identity, and graphic consistency.
Experience writing and editing grants strongly preferred.
Ability to collaborate across departments while working independently and meeting deadlines.
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION
This is a full‑time position with the opportunity for some hybrid work. The position qualifies for all Springboard to Learning benefit packages and requires a minimum 40‑hour work week. Salary is commensurate with experience. Additional details may be found in the Employee Handbook.
