Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in the Finance organization as a bridge between routine transactional accounting activities and end-to-end processes with complex calculations and concepts. This role will also play a key role in financial statement preparation, forecasting, modeling and analysis. The person in this position will perform his/her duties consistent with the LHM and Ministry Services plans, strategic plans, policies, and other guidelines, and within applicable law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
- Prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure accurate financial statements that follow GAAP rules
- Coordinate internal and external audits by pulling records
- Analyze budget variances and report discrepancies
- Review work performed by other staff in addition to training and guiding their work.
- This role may supervise other staff and include performance management requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of accounting and/or auditing experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and general ledger tasks
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with particular focus on Excel
- Advanced communication and organization skills
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work to deliver accurate and timely customer service to colleagues
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or certification
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, mentoring and coaching – personal or work related
- Experience with data management and coding
- Experience with multinational organizations
- Experience with system implementations
Location: The candidate will be willing to work in a hybrid environment and maintain residence in the St. Louis, MO area.
