Assistant Director of Finance

PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE:
This full-time position is responsible for the reconciliation and integrity of the general ledger for Fraternity operations, oversight of daily accounting functions and preparation of financial information as needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and reconciles bank accounts, prepares corresponding journal entries, and prepares general ledger schedules for timely financial reporting.
  • Reconciles accounting system and membership database to ensure meaningful financial reporting.
  • Collaborates with various staff and volunteers to prepare the annual budget. Prepares monthly budget to actual financial reports synthesizing and communicating results to assist stakeholders in making informed business decisions.
  • Collaborates with Accounts Payable Specialist and other staff as needed for accurate invoice coding of payables.
  • Reviews and approves various supporting schedules and journal entries prepared by Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists.
  • Prepares reports for annual audit and tax preparation.
  • Assists with ongoing financial support to stakeholders as needed.
  • Assists in development of policies and procedures for process improvements and/or cost saving measures for the Fraternity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field of study with a minimum three years’ experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge of and strict adherence to GAAP reporting procedures. CPA a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Minimal travel

Supervises the following: Fraternity Accounts Payable Specialist and Accounts Receivable Specialist
Reports to: Fraternity/Fraternity Housing Corporation (FHC) Finance Director
Salary Type: Exempt
