Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Development and serves on the Development team. This individual is responsible for building strong internal and external relationships, working closely with alumni, volunteers, sponsors, Board Members, and supports Friends of Scouting efforts. He or she will collaborate with the Director of Development to develop strategies and implement tactics to increase alumni engagement and philanthropic support that further the mission and advance the goals of Greater St. Louis Area Council.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Successfully orchestrate and oversee council annual campaign.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors, moving them to initiate or expand their financial support of Greater St. Louis Area Council.
  • Discover and manage prospects, overseeing and executing the closing of gifts.
  • Prospect and build relationships with new corporate program sponsors.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing programs and projects that strategically engage donors and create pathways and events for increased donor participation.
  • Serve as the liaison to the field team and aide in community fundraising efforts.
  • Serve as point person for increasing endowment.
  • Discover capital gift donors and help oversee execution of recognition.
  • Monitor and prepare budgets and reports.
  • Assist with council special events including committee participation and logistics coordination.
  • Other duties as assigned and as a member of the Development Team.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of 3-5 years of advancement experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in gift solicitation.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to represent the Greater St. Louis Area Council to external constituents and work effectively with internal constituents across all levels.
  • Experience in identifying, training and motivating volunteers.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); experience with Raiser’s Edge donor software or similar fundraising software a plus.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
