Staff accountant will work under the supervision of the Senior Accountant.  Staff Accountant will help maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers; and prepare and analyze budgets. Staff accountant will be responsible for processing of invoices for accounts payable and invoicing for accounts receivable. A 40-hour workweek can be expected.

Duties and responsibilities

General Duties

  • Performs general ledger account reconciliations and verify accuracy of data.
  • Support timely monthly financial close, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.
  • Prepare financial schedules as required for interim and annual audits.
  • Assist in providing schedules and commentary with respect to operating maintenance accounts results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports, as well as applicable commentary.
  • Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, liabilities, and assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  • Internship or professional accounting experience
  • Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
  • Experience in preparation of audit schedules (PBC’s)
  • Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles in the U.S.) a plus
  • Desire to continue to grow through continuing training and potential pursuit of CPA licensing
  • Experience in or ability to learn Blackbaud Accounting Software
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to work towards goals within deadlines.
  • Ability to listen carefully to and understand others, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner.
  • A results-oriented individual, who demonstrates the ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Openness to new ideas and their implementation.
