Technology Administrator, Part-Time

$22/hour

STEM education-based nonprofit offers part-time remote work (20-30 hours a month) for versatile individual who would like a hand in streamlining and developing our technology resources to maximize the use of technology. Primary initial responsibility will involve maintenance of our CiviCRM database and updates to our website.

We use technology to communicate with our staff and families, assist our students, support our teaching staff and most importantly, promote our organization to those students who qualify. Great opportunity for upper level college student (junior, senior, graduate student), or for a home-based parent with tech background looking for part-time work. This is remote work with some in-person meetings required.

Summary:

Project MEGSSS (MEGSSS.org) utilizes a growing number of owned and contracted technology products and services including desktop, mobile, and cloud/online services. Some of these are MS Office, MS Access, Drupal, Google Docs, a Moodle-based Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Facebook, and various file storage, backup, and security resources. CiviCRM database is the backbone of our data management process.

The Technology Administrator is responsible for the administration and coordination of all technology resources used by Project MEGSSS.  They report directly to the Executive Director.  Any candidate must be adept at productivity software and electronic office organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in data management and web content management.

Responsibilities:

‘Technology’ refers to the full suite of hardware, software, and services used.

•      Manage input and output of all data to/from users of integrated technology.

•      Create forms, reports, and ad-hoc queries on data.

•      Maintain online file organization.

•      Coordinate data input and mail merge operations as needed to process mass mailings, either in-house or contracted.

•      Maintain data integrity and improve operating efficiencies wherever feasible, such as automating data flow, restricting data entry to standards, and limiting access.

•      Perform daily/weekly/monthly/yearly operations to verify all products and services are running properly, baseline activity, and validate technology use.

•      Provide weekly/monthly/yearly status on technology usage, issues, trends, and upcoming events.

•      Set and ensure procedures for security scans, backups, and business continuity.

•      Maintain records documenting technology access and authorization.

•      Coordinate with class site technology coordinators as needed.

•      Manage and coordinate version control and updates of all technology.

•      Create and update operations procedures and workflow documents.

•      Manage service providers and product licenses.

•      Coordinate and track problems and maintenance.

•      Budget and audit all technology expenses; assist in developing grant budgets.

•      Maintain familiarity with new technology or service providers.

•      Propose technology or service providers and coordinate and participate in evaluations and acquisition as needed.

•      Train staff, teachers, and volunteers in written, recorded, or live form.

•      Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Candidate must be highly organized and able to work independently.  Much of the required work may take very small increments of time (to maintain data, send reports, etc.), but candidate must be reliable and able to check e-mail daily.

•      Proven knowledge and appreciation for data integrity and business continuity.

•      Experienced with office management and service provider management.

•      Proven proficient skill with office productivity resources.

•      Familiar with technology coordination.

•      Easily manage file organization on Windows, Mac OS, and online services.

•      Easily adapt to new productivity and data management products and services.

•      Data management using advanced features of spreadsheets or basic services of databases, including filters, queries, forms, reports, and graphs is much desired.

•      General knowledge of operating systems, networks, and computing hardware.

•      Experience in web content management and social media is a plus.

•      Experience with a Moodle-based Virtual Learning Environment is a plus.

•      Customer service orientation, excellent communication skills.
