Program Associate / Officer

Position: Program Associate / Officer
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Salaried full-time 40 hours per week

Responsibilities:
Program Review & Measurement
 Coordinate the review and evaluation of the recent body of work of the Foundation
 Draw conclusions from our outcomes that will lead us to more effective outcomes and to better    project selection
 Work closely with Executive Director and President to establish an internal foundation measurement of its program effectiveness
 Assist in the research and completion of project work for the foundation as needed

Grants & Administration
 Assist in the execution of the quarterly grants cycle and preparation of grants for Board review
 Receive foundation inquiries, qualify prospective applicants, conduct inquiry interviews and engage in potential grantee communications
 Assist LASC staff and 3rd party consultant in the content, development, and maintenance of the foundation website
 Work closely with the Executive Director and Administrative Manager in the implementation and maintenance of the Grants management software and Grants Activities spreadsheet
 Participate and assist as needed in preparation for quarterly Board of Directors meetings

Partner Relationship Development
 Work closely with the President, Executive Director and the St. Louis Director in facilitating Foundation Partnerships
 Assist in new Partner identification and Manage & Grow specific partner relationships
 Participate in International and St. Louis, USA site visits with Foundation staff and leadership
 Assist in the growth of the foundation to the full potential of its plan

Selected Role Expectations
 Primary daily office will be in Chesterfield, (St. Louis area) Missouri USA. Schedule may include remote work from home in conjunction with office schedule.
 Capacity and willingness to travel Internationally 3-4 times annually for Partner trips and Program site visits is required
 Will become one of 4 team members in 2020 and staff will likely continue to grow over time.
 Assist the President of the foundation and the St. Louis Director as requested and perform additional duties as necessary

Qualifications:
 Embraces a service model of empowerment, accountability, partnership, measurement, sustainability, and hope in executing the work of philanthropy
 3-5y professional experience in human services, philanthropy or international program development is preferred
 A second language skill to English is preferred; Spanish or Creole most helpful
 Bachelor’s degree required
 Highly organized, excellent attention to detail, and professional skills are required
 Prior experience working at a high level of confidentiality is preferred
 Selection will be dependent upon applicant skills, interest, and qualifications
 Demonstrated competence with a variety of technology tools is required.

About Light a Single Candle Foundation
 Light a Single Candle Foundation was founded in 2002 and its focus is poverty relief, food security, income development and sustainable community transformation initiatives. 42 projects were funded through our community partners in 2018 and 53 in 2019. We will grow again in 2020. Internationally we work in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, and Nicaragua. In the USA we serve in St. Louis MO.
