Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois is an affiliate of the largest, oldest and most respected mentoring organization in the United States. We are a mission driven, performance based organization that provides high quality and safe 1:1 mentoring services to children across four counties in Southwestern Illinois: Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair. Littles in our program reach higher aspirations, grow in their confidence, develop better relationships, achieve educational success and avoid risky behaviors.

The Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee all mentoring program activities and program staff to ensure alignment with the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission, vision and standards of practice. The program manager is responsible for leading, managing and accountability of the program team and works closely with the CEO on program strategy and goal setting.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois is engaging in an exciting rebuilding process. We are looking for a candidate who has the skill set, experience and personal characteristics who will thrive in being a part of this next chapter.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Leading, Managing & Accountability:
-Working with the CEO to set goals and strategy for the mentoring program
-Ensuring proper training and supervision of program staff
-Managing program staff caseloads and workflow efficiency
-Accountability to program goals, standards of practice, child safety and quality standards
-Developing program outcome reporting on a weekly, monthly and annual basis

Enrollment and Matching: 
-Conducting interviews of “Bigs”, “Littles” and parents/guardians of “Littles”
-Making proper assessments of program fitness in accordance with the BBBSA standards of practice
-Making and approving match recommendations and facilitating match meetings
-Conducting program surveys to assess program effectiveness
-Providing appropriate training to “Bigs” and “Littles”

Match Support:
-Supporting a match caseload and providing monthly match support check-ins to ensure match safety, adherence to rules and standards, proper relationship building, goal tracking, training, coaching and support

Community Engagement: 
-Working collaboratively with the Community Engagement team to develop strategies for volunteer recruitment and program engagement initiatives
-Assisting with agency initiatives and fundraising events as needed
-Other duties as assigned by the CEO

Requirements:

-5-7 years of management experience with track record of success
-Experience working in youth service agencies and with at-risk communities
-Team player and positive attitude
-Works effectively in a changing environment
-Willingness to take in feedback, learn and adapt
-Embraces technology and understands its role in scaling service
-Creative problem solver and resolve to forge ahead
-Excellent analytical and assessment skills
-Strong communication and writing abilities
-Skilled coach and teacher
-Remains focused on the big picture while managing the details
-Professional judgment that comes from years of experience in the field
-BA/BS degree in social work, sociology or psychology
-MSW preferred
