To further our mission of helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their best lives, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual for the position of Registered Nurse for our residential campus.

The individual in this role will ensure quality health and safety services are delivered to individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. This position will support individuals to maintain the best possible health and receive the most appropriate medical care available. The Nurse will collaborate with other departments, medical professionals, and consultants including government agencies to develop, support, and coordinate care for individuals supported by the St. Louis Arc. The nurses at St. Louis Arc work a daytime schedule from Monday to Friday, with on-call rotation on nights/weekends shared among the nursing team. (Some work can be performed remotely.)

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to Arc Core Values of Respect, Collaboration, and Empowerment
  • Advise and lead the Residential team, and medical team in planning and developing administrative and operational policies, procedures and future planning
  • Serve as liaison for the Residential team in regard to state, professional, and accrediting groups
  • Managing individual data and medical records
  • Ensure implementation of proper health care plans as ordered by physicians
  • Participate in agency’s Workers Compensation case management; as assigned
  • Prepare and maintain all health care related reports and forms
  • Participate in RN on-call rotation
  • Train and support direct care staff on delegated nursing duties and medication administration procedures
  • Deliver care with appropriate age and cultural competence and according to individualized needs
  • Demonstrate and support all St. Louis Arc Diversity and Inclusion practices/initiatives

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Nursing preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Agency Required Training
  • Obtain DMH Community RN status (within 30 days of hire)
  • Valid State RN License

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • 2 years previous nursing experience
  • 2+ years experience working in ID/DD field

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,  AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to residential locations
  • Extensive computer and database software and word processing software
  • Working knowledge of various medical conditions and terminology
  • Knowledge of diagnoses most commonly associated with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
  • Knowledge of assistive medical devices and how to best utilize
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Aptitude in problem solving
  • Ability to appropriately interact with individuals with various abilities
  • Ability to train others on specialized medical process/procedures
  • Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
  • Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Walking up to 6-8 hours a day
  • Standing up to 6-8 hours a day
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs. floor to shoulders
  • Travel up to 25% of the time between agency locations and various St. Louis based doctor’s offices
  • Work environment is office setting as well as residential and various agency locations
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Equipment consists of various medical equipment as well as office equipment
