Concordia Seminary, St. Louis

POSITION SUMMARY:

Secures gifts for Concordia Seminary by cultivating, stewarding and retaining a portfolio of midlevel donors (those currently giving or capable of giving $1,000 to $5,000 annually) while also identifying those donors who can move into increased levels of giving.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Nurture midlevel donors and manage the moves management process with a focus on retaining donors, upgrading gifts and acquiring new donors.

·         In consultation with other team members across the Seminary Advancement division, plan and implement communications strategies, including mail and email campaigns, events and other touches for cultivation, conversion and retention of midlevel donors, and to identify and upgrade annual fund donors to midlevel.

·         Contribute to a robust pipeline of major donor prospects, including planned giving prospects, by identifying high-potential midlevel donors within the manager’s assigned portfolio and proactively working in consultation with gift officers to transfer donors to the major gift cultivation process.

·         Maintain best practices for donor stewardship with timely acknowledgement and follow-up.

·         Ensure entry of correspondence and other touches with donors and prospects into the Seminary’s donor database.

·         Manage all aspects of the Seminary’s Walther Society.

·         Monitor evaluation metrics to track the financial impact of specific midlevel donor program strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree.
Four or more years of experience in development or related area, including focused relationship building skills, customer service and/or consultative sales skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage an annual marketing communication plan for donor audiences, conduct research to identify industry best practices, and develop and implement strategy.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
·         Strong computer literacy required. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Raiser’s Edge or similar donor-related databases.

Ability to travel on occasion.
Must be willing to participate in evening or weekend events.
·         Active membership in an LCMS congregation preferred.
