The Associate Director of Foster Care (AD) manages the Foster Care Program in their designated region. The AD reports to the Director of Foster Care for all Foster Care activities and to the Regional Director for all administrative, personnel, and budgetary activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises a team of Foster Care Supervisors, Foster Care Training Specialist, Foster Care Coordinators and Case Managers as needed.
  • Ensures Foster Care teams are adhering to most up to date DCFS policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for regional compliance of DCFS Foster Care Contracts, COA, and other accrediting entities.
  • Assists with development of new initiatives e.g. Immersion Agency
  • Works in collaboration with Director of Foster Care in the implementation of Child and Family Team Meetings.
  • Guides their program toward the agency and DCFS permanency goals.
  • Works in collaboration with Foster Care Coordinator to ensure monthly billing is accurate and submitted to the Finance Department.
  • Communicates and collaborates with DCFS APT monitoring and other entities.
  • Monitors the regional training and development curriculum to ensure effectiveness.
  • Works in collaboration with Foster Care Coordinator to ensure monthly statistics are accurate and submitted to QI department.
  • Provides necessary program evaluations and reports as required.
  • Reviews client records of caseworkers to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Ensures daily service hours, expense sheets and itineraries are accurate and consistent.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Masters Degree in Social Work or a closely related Human Services field; Current Illinois Child Welfare License. Two years of experience working with children and / or families. Supervisory experience, preferably in IL child welfare.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from those served, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to management, and public groups.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Strong computer proficiency skills are essential; must possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including client database software.

OTHER:

Must have vehicle, licensed to drive and auto insurance to transport clients.
