Job Title:  Director of Donor Relations

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Department:  Development

Date:  March 2021

Reports To:  VP of Development

Purpose and Scope of Job:

The Director of Donor Relations is a high-impact position critical to the successful execution of World Pediatric Project’s mission. The Director of Donor Relations is responsible for goals related to raising annual revenue and for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors in the Greater St. Louis area and region. The incumbent will work with the development team to implement and manage the development annual campaign and must be able to be successful in a metrics-driven role.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

  • Secure, maintain and grow individual donor base focusing on donors giving at the level of $1,000 and above through both the cultivation of existing and acquisition of new donors
  • In coordination with the full development team, implement effective donor stewardship and cultivation strategies
  • In coordination with the ED and VP of Development, attract and nurture development leadership volunteers
  • Assist in the creation and development of the annual fund campaign and other development mailings and materials
  • Build relationships with Staff and the Board of Directors, as well as external audiences, including prospective donors, volunteers, community thought leaders and influencers
  • Participate with all staff in organization-wide activities and functions

  • Basic computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, donor management software, etc.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in annual campaign, development and/or sales and/or marketing related experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Demonstrated success in achieving annual monetary goals and activity benchmarks in development and/or sales
  • Experience and demonstrated outcomes in initiating a high volume of prospects and contributor  networking/visits
  • Proven collaborative experience being a part of a small staff and volunteer base
  • High energy and passion for philanthropy and/or sales for a mission-based organization
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Work Environment

  • Office setting with out of the office visits for donor and prospect meetings and professional development
  • Remote work as required
  • Domestic travel as required; potential international travel may be needed

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to drive on a regular basis; must have and maintain an incident-free driving record
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds without assistance
