Position Summary

This dual position includes the support and coordination of Manchester Arts initiatives and the assistance in the Parks and Recreation Department,  including but not limited to, programming, special events, promotion and advocacy of volunteer services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties, responsibilities and expectations are not necessarily limited to the following, and are not enumerated in any particular order or priority.  At any particular time the frequency or duration with which one or more of the following specific duties is performed may vary widely.

-Implementation of a comprehensive community engagement plan regarding the vision and the mission for the Arts that connects the community and region
-Staff Liaison to the Manchester Arts Board of Directors
-Assist in organizational development; including the recruitment of volunteers
-Assist in developing and distribution of digital content on our website, email, and social media
-Foster relationships between civic and social service agencies, schools, universities, public groups, and corporate businesses. Increase awareness and partnerships between Manchester Arts and the local community

-Collaborate with the Arts Committee and the Recreation Department to develop marketing strategies, publicity, interpretive exhibits, and media coverage for programs and events
-Research and apply for grants and various funding sources
-Assist in the research and application process for grants and various funding sources
-Plans, coordinates, schedules, promotes, implements, and evaluates a variety of programs which may include instructional classes, special events, facility rentals, seasonal camps, and sports programs; orders supplies and equipment related program materials and maintain inventory control
-Performs various personnel functions, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of part-time and seasonal program staff
-Prepares, coordinates and disseminates advertising and promotions, through the use of social media, brochures, calendars, letters, posters, banners and news releases for programs and events
-Preparation and management of the Arts and Recreation budgets
-All other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

-Strong planning skills and attention to detail with the ability to build and motivate a team Possess a background in customer service
-Familiarity and experience with hiring and contracting procedures
-Experience with Windows/Microsoft Office suite, website/blog editing, mobile technologies and applications, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)
-Possess strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to execute an effective course action for a long-range strategic plan
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Strong organizational skills with the ability to disseminate information clearly and concisely
-Ability to coordinate a variety of unrelated functions and handle multiple projects concurrently
-Commitment to sustaining strong and productive working partnerships with all staff members, committee members, volunteers, consultants, contractors, government officials and community
-Work irregular hours, to include nights and weekends and some holidays.  Comfort in the outdoors for special events and programs.  Work in extreme weather conditions
-Must be able to bend stoop, stand, reach and lift
-Develop and monitor various social media sites

Minimum Requirements – Education Certification and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Parks and Recreation, Arts Administration, Education or related field. Minimum of three years of progressively related management experience in Parks and Recreation, Arts Administration, Education, or equivalent. Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications – Education, Certification, and Experience

Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification preferred.

Work Environment

-The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while standing or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and distinguishes between shades of color
-Regularly requires standing, walking and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting
