THE ROME GROUP: A BRIEF HISTORY
The Rome Group was founded in 1995 by Amy Rome and the late Claudia Daugherty. Amy had been consulting for a few years when she and Claudia talked about joining forces to expand into several new arenas, including the arts. With a mutual appreciation for the importance of the nonprofit sector, they decided to work together.
What started as two nonprofit professionals seeking to help organizations build capacity and raise funds for their mission soon became an expanded team that today totals 10 consultants, and counting. Over the years, the firm has evolved its service offerings to include planning and operations as well as fundraising.
From its origins in Claudia’s backyard, to its first office on Newstead, and now its current residency in Midtown, The Rome Group has always stayed focused on a vision of stronger nonprofits and stronger communities. We have remained focused on the St. Louis Region because it’s our home and the philanthropic community we know best. While we’ve occasionally taken work outside the area 99% of our work is local, by design.
When Claudia passed away in 2006, Amy assumed full ownership of the firm. In 2022, when Amy decided to retire (really retire) she hired Dayna Stock to lead the firm as CEO, beginning a new chapter in The Rome Group story.
