Room at the Inn is at an exciting time in our 30-year history. Our Bridgeton location will be completely renovated by December 2025 and provide greater client capacity and added space for service provision.
To align with our strategic goals, Room at the Inn is adding a new position for a Development Coordinator. This position will report to the Executive Director and engage directly with donors, manage donor data, plan and execute special events, and increase Room at the Inn’s community presence, especially through enhanced social media.

AGENCY OVERVIEW
Room at the Inn is a shelter for families who are experiencing homelessness, located in Bridgeton, MO. Our purpose is to help our client families get into a home of their own and equip them with the tools needed to achieve success in long-term permanent housing. Room at the Inn operates 24 hours, 7 days per week schedule every day of the year.

POSITION SUMMARY
This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Executive Director.
This position is responsible managing Development activities for Room at the Inn. The position will work closely and have daily contact with the Executive Director related to donations, donor engagement and stewardship, donor retention, and event planning. The Development Coordinator will manage the donor database; report donor engagement and financial metrics; work with Advancement Committee on strategy and event planning; and provide direct support to the Executive Director for donor meetings. The Development Coordinator will also have their own donor contacts and engagement responsibilities. The position will work closely with the Manager-Finance and Administration to ensure donor database and general ledger are consistent.
This position requires flexibility as to work schedule and job duties assigned related to off-hour events.
This position and it’s successful incumbent could be included as part of Room at the Inn’s strategic planning for succession should the role of Executive Director become vacant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with the Executive Director to define, develop and execute a Development strategy that aligns with Room at the Inn strategic plan
· Manage the donor database (Bloomerang) including receipt and input of donations; timely gift recognition for donors; MO state tax credit applications; and bank deposits and reporting
· Engage with donors on a regular basis, in a positive and friendly manner, and manage a donor engagement list
· Support the Executive Director with reporting, communications, and other reporting for donor meetings and agency reporting
· Manage development activities of the Administrative Coordinator
· Work with the grant writer (external) to share information for grant applications
· Improve and increase the agency social media presence and followers
· Create marketing materials for agency campaigns, events, and other communications including bi-annual newsletters and special events
· Ensure donation recognition is done timely and appropriately
· Lead and manage the Advancement Committee efforts to two annual fundraisers, the golf tournament and trivia night, as well as other special events. The Development Coordinator will be the point person for all special events.
· Work directly with MFA, external accounting agency, and Executive Director on monthly reconciliations
· Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree, in social work, business, or related field
· Professional in all interactions with clients, staff, volunteers, and the public
· Personable, on-time and dependable
· Comfortable working with people of diverse faith backgrounds
· Able to maintain a high level or discretion/confidentiality related to donor information
· Able to maintain a high level of discretion/confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA requirements for emergency shelter operations and client information when creating marketing materials
· Enthusiasm for the mission of Room at the Inn, and to end homelessness
This role is subject to pre-employment screening including a criminal background check.
Standard agency work hours for administrative staff are 8.30am-4.30pm Monday through Friday. This position can be hybrid, with standard days in the office. Timing of events may require higher in-office or event on-site participation.
Salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 annually.
