The Development Coordinator will support essential donor cultivation and relationship activities that impact the fundraising success of the organization and drive forward our mission and impact.

Variety’s Development Coordinator will:

  • Build relationships with current and prospective donors and solicit gifts as well as steward donors, managing an evolving portfolio of smaller and annual campaign donors.
  • Proactively research, identify, and qualify new individual, corporate and foundation donor prospects.
  • Lead efforts to initiate contact with prospective donors, focusing on smaller new gifts and monthly giving through personalized outreach, including calls, emails, and meetings to build awareness of the organization’s mission.
  • Support donor relations and stewardship activities including outreach and follow up to Variety supporters for gratitude, recognition, event attendance, outstanding pledges, meeting scheduling, gift solicitation and other donor matters.
  • Cultivate and manage all third-party fundraising events and activities.
  • Manage Young Variety (young professionals’ group) including recruiting new members and acting as Variety staff liaison to support and facilitate group activities and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist in executing fundraising and recognition events including supporting registration, donor stewardship components and onsite event organization.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials and content graphics, such as flyers, brochures, and social media content to promote fundraising campaigns and events.

A successful Development Coordinator will have/be:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, ideally in business, English, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one to two years of work experience ideally working in fundraising or sales and have an understanding of the non-profit industry.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising principles, and experience working in a donor management database is a plus!
  • A strong networker with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a willingness to take initiative, and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • A creative and innovative thinker with outstanding research skills.
  • Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail oriented.
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
