Position summary:  The Director of Advancement is responsible for the development and implementation of annual fundraising, communications and volunteer engagement plans for ECH that align with the agency’s strategic direction. Duties include developing and implementing annual fundraising programs and budgets; providing leadership and supervision to the Community Engagement and Volunteer Manager and the Development/Administrative Support Specialist; assisting CDO in guiding agency marketing, communications and social media activities developed by the external communications consulting firm; building  and maintaining strong and successful internal and external constituent relationships; effectively executing fundraising and stewardship activities and events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Use innovation and creativity to strategically grow the agency’s base of donors.

·         Effectively create and follow donor engagement and stewardship plans and activities resulting in increased year-over-year donor retention.

·         Coordinate and develop robust fundraising materials and agency publications, such as newsletters, annual reports, social media communication, etc.

·         Identify prospective individual, foundation and corporate donors and develop and implement strategies to cultivate those relationships.

·          Work closely with CDO in leading and coaching the department staff to become and remain a high-performing team who will achieve annual development, communications and volunteer goals for the agency.

·         Demonstrate a commitment to ECH mission and values through working collaboratively with other department and program leaders and staff to ensure fundraising and communications align well with agency mission and program goals.

·         Oversee the maintenance and record-keeping of all donor data systems, ensuring high quality information for donor records.

·         Collaborate with CDO and Development team to develop, maintain and implement an annual plan and calendar for all fundraising, and community relations activities, which includes e-mail fundraising campaigns, direct mail, special events, social media, donor and volunteer recognition, etc.

·         Successfully coordinate, manage and implement fundraising and donor cultivation events.

·         Effectively lead and supervise the Community Engagement and Volunteer Manager and the Development/Administrative Support Specialist to help them be successful in their positions.

·         Work in conjunction with Chief Development Officer to set and achieve Annual Fund revenue goals, while staying within budgeted expenditures.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

·         Responsible for being trauma aware, sensitive and responsive to youth, families and colleagues through the completion of new hire and annual trauma informed education/training.

Qualifications must include, but are not limited to:

·         Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college.

·         3 – 5 years’ experience in development or related field preferred.

·         Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

·         Experience supervising employees.

·         Must be a “people” person willing to be part of a team effort.

·         Experience using donor management system like Blackbaud NXT, and proficient in using computer programs within the Microsoft suite and WordPress.

·         Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

·         Meet physical demands of occasionally lifting and moving items, including equipment and supplies needed for events and material donations received.

·         Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to other ECH locations throughout the state and to meet with donors and external constituents regularly as the position requires.

Position Location:

This is an onsite position at the main campus in St. Louis County, with periodic travel to other agency locations throughout the state.
